artist biography
Ivar Viktor Andersson was born September 18, 1903 in Mölltorp, Skaraborg. He was a Swedish painter.

Andersson entered the artistic field when he was in his 30s after working as a construction draftsman for several years. He studied art under Torsten Palm and Karl Gullberg and at the Tekniska skolan in Stockholm. He undertook a study trip to France where he studied for Jean Souverbie at the Académie Julien in Paris and he later took other study trips to Norway and Italy.

Andersson first solo show was at the De Ungas Salong in Stockholm in 1941. He subsequently had solo exhibitions at Gummesons konsthandel and konstsalong Samlaren. He exhibited in group shows including ones with Västerås Art Association and Skara Art Association. He painted figurative works, still life and landscapes, including many from Öland. He signed his works with the initials IAN and IA. Examples of Andersson ’s work are held in the public collections of the Moderna museet in Stockholm and Västerås konstförening's collection.

He passed away at the age of 61 on December 1, 1964 in Bromma.
