We've cut it into spindles of 1 3 4" across and 8" long. The grain on this piece is long and straight, with swirls around small and infrequent burl buds. We have air dried this Texas Ebony log for 5+ years. Moisture content is 10 12%. Janka hardness is 2820 lbf. Density is 80 lb ft3. This wood is very dense and hard, one of the hardest available

The grain on this piece is long and straight, with swirls around small and infrequent burl buds. We have air-dried this Texas Ebony log for 5+ years. Moisture content is 10-12%. Janka hardness is 2820 lbf. Density is 80 lb/ft3. This wood is very dense and hard, one of the hardest available in North America. The finished products are exquisite. This block has some very minor end-grain checking (see close-up photo). |
