The name Big Cigar derives from the bright red flowers tipped with a white rim, accented by tiny blackish purple petals giving it the appearance of a lit cigar. This is commonly used as edging to walkways and paths or as container plant on decks, patios, porches, or even in hanging baskets. The blooms keep upright until frozen and freezes to the ground in Southern states yet pops up again next Spring very nicely. The tubular shape of the bright red flowers contain nectar which is highly attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies. Hardy in zones 8-11. These are growing in 3.5-inch, deep containers.
