Background

CD21, also known as complement receptor type 2 (CR2), is a ~145 kDa membrane glycoprotein expressed mainly on mature B cells and follicular dendritic cells that functions as the principal cellular receptor for complement fragments such as C3d and for the Epstein–Barr virus gp350/220 glycoprotein, thereby bridging innate and adaptive immunity by forming the CD19/CD21/CD81 coreceptor complex that lowers the B-cell receptor signaling threshold, promotes B-cell activation, proliferation, antibody production and antigen presentation, and also participates in retaining immune complexes in germinal centers, while its soluble ectodomain (sCD21) released by metalloprotease shedding circulates as an immunomodulatory decoy that can either enhance or suppress immune responses depending on context and is dysregulated in various infectious, neoplastic and autoimmune disorders.

If definitely feels cool to the touch although still have doubts about ability to cool my dogs. Although not as cool as an ice pack, this cooling pad doesn’t require refrigeration and always stays cool to the touch and no condensation. Not sure if it’s worth the money for the price because not sure if it works. A four pack for $32 seems reasonable but not sure if it’s worth it.
