History

Harald Brattbakk joined Celtic in December 1997 from Rosenborg for £3.5 million and immediately wrote himself into club folklore. On the final day of the 1997/98 season — 9 May 1998 — Brattbakk scored the decisive goal in a 2-0 victory over St Johnstone that secured Celtic's first Scottish league title in ten years and stopped Rangers from completing their famous ten-in-a-row dream.

He also famously scored all four goals in a 4-0 demolition of Kilmarnock during the same season. The following 1998/99 campaign proved more difficult, with Brattbakk making 25 first-team appearances and scoring five goals as Celtic finished runners-up to Rangers in a fiercely contested title race.

Brattbakk departed Celtic in 1999 after scoring 17 goals in 48 appearances for the club. For Norwegian football supporters, he remains one of the most beloved exports of his generation, the modest striker from Trondheim who delivered one of the defining moments in modern Celtic history.

The 98/99 away shirt represents the final full season of Brattbakk's Celtic career and stands as a uniquely meaningful crossover collectible between Norwegian and Scottish football culture.

Collector Value

A 98/99 Umbro Celtic away shirt with an authentic Brattbakk 9 nameset in 9/10 condition is genuinely rare. Comparable vintage Celtic Umbro shirts in similar condition typically resell internationally in the NOK 1,500 – NOK 3,000 range, with player-named examples trading toward the upper end of the market.

Brattbakk-named editions carry especially strong demand among Norwegian collectors because of his unique place in football culture as the Norwegian striker who delivered a title-defining moment for one of Britain's most iconic clubs.

The rarity comes not only from limited period production but also from the fact that Brattbakk editions are not commonly reproduced as modern retro releases. TheFootballIdiots' NOK 2,299 sits at the lower end of the international market for an authentic 9/10 Brattbakk-named example.

FAQs

Why is Brattbakk considered a Celtic legend?

Harald Brattbakk is forever associated with Celtic because of his title-clinching goal against St Johnstone on 9 May 1998, the strike that secured Celtic's first league title in a decade and prevented Rangers from winning ten consecutive Scottish league championships.

He also scored all four goals in a famous 4-0 win over Kilmarnock during the same season. Even though his second campaign in 98/99 was quieter, that defining title moment permanently secured his place in Celtic folklore.

How long did Brattbakk play for Celtic?

Harald Brattbakk played for Celtic from December 1997 until 1999, making 48 appearances and scoring 17 goals. He joined Rosenborg from Rosenborg for £3.5 million and remains one of the most celebrated Norwegian players in Scottish football history.

Are Norwegian-player Scottish football shirts collectible?

Yes — particularly when the player produced historically significant moments for the club. Brattbakk's title-winning goal in 1998 gives his Celtic shirts special value both to Celtic supporters and Norwegian football collectors.

Other notable Norwegian-Scottish crossover collectibles include shirts linked to Erik Bø Andersen, Trond Henriksen, and Norwegian players who featured for clubs such as Aberdeen, Hearts, and Rangers.

Was NOT Moana themed
Sun protection factor: 50 Sun Protection Factor (SPF), Size: 0.49 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Worked perfectly for our Disney trip. Fit well in our fanny packs. Kind of greasy, but its hard to get away from that with sunscreen. Be advised, though, it was NOT Moana. It was just a regular stick. My kids were a little disappointed.

Perfect little sunscreen
Sun protection factor: 50 Sun Protection Factor (SPF), Size: 0.49 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Easy for my son to apply himself at summer camp. Compact size for his backpack. Only downfall is it goes on white until fully rubbed in, which is normally fine but when my son is trying to get his face himself at camp it is hard for him. Wish it went clear on its own.

Works very well
Sun protection factor: 50 Sun Protection Factor (SPF), Size: 0.49 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Sent this with my daughter to preschool application was very easy for the teachers. Overall the stick was a little bit smaller than expected but it goes a long ways. Was really happy with the overall ingredients in this product versus others. Well worth the money and my daughter was more open to having it because of the application being in a stick.

White cast
Sun protection factor: 50 Sun Protection Factor (SPF), Size: 0.49 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I like having sun screen sticks like this to have the kids carry around in backpacks at summer camps/sports practice so they can re apply - but this one goes on white and is more of a challenge for the kids to get all rubbed in. Wont purchase again
