Entering service in 1998, 66022 was one of the original 250 Class 66 locomotives built for EWS. Funded by Locomotion Capital Ltd, it remained with EWS until December 2008. In June 2006, it became one of 60 locomotives sub-let to the Euro Cargo Rail subsidiary in France. Later sold to Angel Trains and leased to DB Schenker Rail UK, 66022 continued operating in France, returning to the UK via the Channel Tunnel for maintenance when required. Today, it is part of the DB Cargo fleet.
