Stephanie Sachs has always been a seeker so after art school, she hopped on a seeking adventure and found her home on Maui more than 30 years ago. Stephanie brings that same sense of adventure into her studio where she lets go of her plans and trusts the process to bring surprises.

Islands evoke the fantasy of escape for some, but these islands fill me with a deep sense of home. When creating this body of work, I wanted to unabashedly embrace the themes of nature, islands, and water, erasing any prejudice I might have that contemporary art can’t speak of lush dreams. My work aims to offer the viewer a range of emotions inside these fantastical landscapes, from the meditative to the adventurous."

Exuberant joy is easy to paint; bright colors remind us of the crescendo moments in our lives, while earth tones speak to a deeper, more internal joy. Even as the imagery is mysterious and fanciful, these wondrous scenes remain strangely familiar. - Stephanie Sachs

Stephanie has a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis and  has been a resident at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. She has shown in Chelsea, New York, Miami, and Palm Springs and currently shows at the Four Seasons Resort Maui in Wailea. In 2022 Sachs was selected for the West Coast edition of New American Paintings. Her works are in collections around the world.
