Construite selon les critères de Marcus Miller, la D5 est une basse Sire à corps plein qui produit un son traditionnel très prononcé que la plupart des bassistes aiment. Basse en solid body spécialement conçue pour favoriser une réponse rapide du son, ce qui permet aussi d'obtenir une bonne puissance et un excellent contrôle. Le manche a les propriétés d'un bois vieilli que l'on obtient par un processus méticuleux appelé "torréfaction". Le micro simple bobinage Marcus Vintage D-bass et le chevalet Marcus D-bass en laiton et plaque d'acier offrent un espacement idéal entre les cordes et constituent le tandem idéal pour produire un son vintage clair.
