Origins & Craftsmanship
Produced in the Dominican Republic by Brugal—one of the country’s most historic rum houses (founded 1888)—this release represents a technical evolution in rum aging.
The defining feature is Brugal’s proprietary “Dark Aromatic Toasting” technique:
- The rum is first aged in sherry-seasoned American oak casks
- The barrels are then emptied and carefully re-toasted, creating caramelized pockets within the wood
- The rum is returned to the cask, allowing it to absorb deep caramel, toasted nut, and spice tones naturally
This process emphasizes flavor development through wood interaction, rather than extended aging or additives.
