Why zinc and copper together?

Zinc and copper are important trace elements in equine nutrition. They participate in many of the body's normal metabolic processes and are part of the function of numerous enzymes.

Zinc and copper are often considered together in feeding, as their mutual ratio affects how well the horse can utilise them. Therefore, the balance of these two trace elements is an important part of the horse's overall diet.

Chelated form

CdG ZINC & COPPER combines these two trace elements in the same product, allowing them to be supplemented in the diet in a pre-balanced ratio. In this product, zinc and copper are in chelated form (as glycine chelates), where the trace element is bound to an amino acid.

Chelated form resembles the natural structure

This chelated structure is a similar form to that in which many trace elements also occur in natural nutrition. In chelated form, the trace element travels bound to an amino acid, making it structurally different from traditional inorganic mineral compounds, where the trace element is present as a simple mineral salt.

Chelated trace elements are often the preferred choice in equine mineral nutrition when the goal is to provide trace elements in a balanced, safe, and highly absorbable form.

Zinc and copper in equine nutrition

The horse's hooves, skin, and coat are built from proteins and structural compounds, the formation of which also requires trace elements. Zinc and copper are part of the nutritional components associated with these structures.

Zinc–copper supplementation is often used in situations where attention is needed on the horse's trace element intake. Examples include balancing the diet or situations where the nutritional background related to the skin, coat, and hooves needs to be taken into account.

In nature, horses obtain trace elements from many plants. The mineral content of plants varies depending on soil and growing conditions, which is why attention is often paid to trace element intake in feeding.

Carrot powder

The carrot powder used in this product naturally contains beta-carotene (a precursor to vitamin A), which is part of the normal nutritional support of the horse's skin and mucous membranes.
