These are the words of a young gorilla telling us how he was taken by these strange creatures. He also brings to light the journey that followed, starting on a floating volcano to a land so different from his jungle. As the story goes on, he explains how he was sent to various places like fairs, zoos and circuses, until one day he started to believe he could go back to nature.
In this picture book with three colors – red, green and grey – Brice Postma Uzel gives a voice to a sensitive animal as well as an opportunity to think about the meanings of humanity and freedom.

Un livre de Brice Postma-Uzel. 

Ce matin-là, c’était différent. Une odeur âcre irritait ma langue. Le ciel s’était obscurci. Un bruit nouveau s’ajoutait au tumulte de la jungle. Sur l’océan, un volcan crachait des nuages.

Un jeune gorille, nous raconte sa capture par des créatures étranges et le périple qui s’ensuit, sur un volcan flottant, vers des contrées bien différentes de sa jungle natale. Au fil de l’histoire, considéré comme une curiosité, il est envoyé de foire en zoo, de zoo en cirque... Un jour enfin, l’espoir renaît avec la promesse d’un retour à la vie sauvage...

Avec des illustrations originales en sérigraphie, cet album en trichromie — rouge, vert et gris — de Brice Postma Uzel invite les lecteur·ices à changer de point de vue et à s’interroger sur la notion d’humanité.
