- Soak before feeding: As a general guide, add 3–5 parts water to 1 part pellets by weight to achieve your preferred texture.
- Soak time: Allow pellets to fully expand and soften, ensuring no hard centres remain. (Follow your bag’s specific timing; warmer water speeds soaking.)
- Serving rate: Adjust to bodyweight, condition and workload; divide into multiple small meals.
- Hydration: Ideal post-exercise or during hot weather to encourage water intake. Always provide fresh, clean water.
- Storage: Feed fresh; discard uneaten soaked beet daily. Introduce gradually over 4–7 days.
Do I need to soak Trident Sugar Beet Pellets?
Yes. Pellets must be fully soaked before feeding. Check there are no hard pieces remaining.
Can it replace forage?
It can be used as a partial forage replacer to help increase total fibre intake, especially for horses with poor dentition. Maintain adequate long fibre where possible.
Is it suitable for good-doers?
It’s low in starch & sugar, but still provides calories from fibre. Adjust quantities to your horse’s condition and workload.
Can I mix supplements into it?

How sloppy should the mash be?
