When it comes to custom guitars, there's few places you could go to find something like this Fender Custom Shop '50s Telecaster Masterbuilt by David Brown in a rich Copper finish. This '50s-style Tele, personally built by Fender Master Builder David Brown, comes together with unique aesthetics, high-quality electronics, and a masterful assembly from an artist's hands.

This Fender Custom Shop '50s Telecaster sets off in its musical journey with a two-piece ash body. A more pronounced lower-end response makes this ash body uniquely resonant while it serves as an exceptional canvas to wrap a Copper-colored lacquer finish around. This Masterbuilt Custom Shop features a thin lacquer finish with a Fender Custom Shop Deluxe Closet Classic finish treatment. Deluxe Closet Classic appears as a finish treatment with a level of finish wear designed to capture the essence of a guitar well-kept in good condition for decades, ultimately only touched by the hands of time.

From here, a 5/4 quartersawn maple neck reaches out in a 52 Style "U" profile. Retaining more of your proverbial "baseball bat" feel in hand, this neck feels particularly vintage and is decked in a thin satin lacquer finish. Smooth and silky, this quartersawn pick couples a comfortable feel in the palm and a full, retro-minded shape. Its fingerboard lines up twenty-one frets utilizing Vintage Upgrade (45085) fret wire. Meant to capture the essence of '50s and '60s Fenders with fret sizes only slightly larger than original Fender models, this Vintage Upgrade fret wire makes for a comfortable and articulate experience. This fingerboard measures with a compound radius of 7.25" to 9.50". Where this lands this Tele's playability is with a board that starts rounder near the nut for easier chords and flattens out toward the body for smoother soloing.

For its voice, this Masterbuilt '50s Telecaster employs a robust set of electronics. Onboard, two 50-51 Blackguard Tele single-coil pickups summon enormously expressive single-coil Tele twang. These two pickups are hand-wound by none other than the illustrious Josefina Campos and play with exceptional response and their own one-of-a-kind tonal profile. A Modern Tele wiring setup shapes these hand-wounds in an incredibly intuitive, no-frills fashion.

This bold sonic palette is backed up by a sturdy hardware setup. A Nocaster bridge lands at the base of the scale and is matched with a bone nut and Vintage-Style tuning machines at the opposite end. Fender Custom Shop Closet Classic hardware finish treatments appear across the entire guitar to push the presentation solidly into a vintage aesthetic. This Masterbuilt model travels with an included Fender Custom Shop Strat/Tele Blonde hardshell case.

From a master's hands to ours, we're delighted to share this Masterbuilt model and all the timeless style it exudes.

Interesting but limited
Format: Paperback
A tale of sound and fury signifying... what? There's a lot going on. A lot of pretty pictures. But at the end of the volume you don't really know anything. Won't be buying volume 2.

A Great Starting Point / What The Readers Want
Format: Paperback
This is the Spider-Man comic I have been waiting a decade for. For some reason with Marvel Comics these days there is a mindset that Peter Parker and Mary Jane cannot be happy by staying married together ever since the release of the terrible storyline One More Day. Nick Spencer almost undid this terrible decision but was prevented from doing so. The series gives readers exactly what they want by starting it off with Peter and MJ already married and with kids. This is a brand new continuity that is separate from the old Ultimate universe that welcomes readers with a new starting point. Peter is not yet established as Spider-Man and the story is about him gaining his powers while he is an older and more mature individual. There are quite a few surprises that I will not spoil, but it will demonstrate how this is not the same universe as the original 616 universe. I have to hand it to Jonathan Hickman as he is a great writer that is able to grab the attention of his audience and keep them invested in what happens next. This was apparent on his previous runs with Avengers and New Avengers. Also, the art by Marco Checchetto is top tier as this man is one of the best artists working in the comic industry currently at this time. Check out this comic if you are looking to read a good Spider-Man series.

Best Spider-Man book out there!
Format: Kindle
I really enjoyed this first volume of ultimate Spider-Man. As a (sort of) adult myself I love the new twist on the origin with Peter being a grown ass man with in his mid to late 30s with a career & young family when he gets the the powers this time instead of geeky teenager who is perpetually in his 20s in the 696 Marvel universe. Really enjoy the different take on Green Goblin as well and looking forward to seeing how everything plays out with the whole mission and greater conflict laid out in this book. The artwork is stellar and the writing is really sharp and crisp. Peter has never been more likable & charismatic and MJ & Gwen Stacey have never looked hotter. I could not recommend this book highly enough if you are a Spider-Man fan. As a matter of fact I enjoyed this book so much that I read it twice which I very rarely do.

The Spider-Man We Didn't Know We Needed
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) Vol. 1 is the breath of fresh air the franchise needed. Instead of the familiar wide-eyed teenager, we get a Peter Parker in his mid-30s - a husband, a father, and a man already carrying the weight of the world before he ever puts on a suit. That added dimension makes him instantly more compelling. The family dynamics, while central to the premise, don't always land with the emotional weight they deserve. It's a minor gripe in an otherwise confident debut. Hickman deserves credit for sidestepping decades of continuity baggage and reimagining beloved characters in arcs that feel genuinely new. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, this is a worthy read.
