This is a fully air-dried blank, measuring 10-12% moisture content. Madrona tends to have a fair bit of internal stress stored up due to its twisting and turning growth habit. This gives the wood its gorgeous grain but also increases the risk of cracks occurring while drying. This piece has open cracks as shown in the close-up photos. We recommend stabilizing these with thin or medium CA glue prior to turning. This size of spindle is useful for a range of turning, carving, or other woodworking projects. About the Tree This Madrona tree lived a long and healthy life on San Juan Island, Washington. It died naturally and was harvested in the course of good forest management. |

LOVE IT!

I love it. It’s very pretty and simple, in a good way. I plan to use it for all my jewelry and not just for travel. I like that it has a lot of hooks for necklaces and plenty of space for earring and rings. The fabric inside and out seem to be good quality. It’s well made and zips easily. The structure is sturdy as well. The color (white) is just as depicted. I think I got the larger size but it doesn’t feel bulky at all. I like that it comes with an extra pouch for bulkier items. It’s one of the best jewelry boxes I’ve had!
