Are you interested in WWII history, German History or Third Reich pictures, this is a great find for you. This authentic WW2 German death card was issued as a remembrance to Franz Problteder (spelling?) who was killed during the war. These types of cards are known in German as “Sterbebilder”. It shows a photograph of the deceased soldier, in uniform, and contains some personal information (I don’t know German). These cards were given as a prayer card at the soldier’s funeral; therefore the reverse often depicts religious themes. The German government decreed that a soldier’s unit was never listed and warned against listing a graphic cause of death. This card is a fantastic find and gives a face and a story to soldiers who are often forgotten in history. Great for anyone's collection.
