A charming engraved and hand-coloured Victorian board game, published and sold by Edward Wallis, of 42 Skinner Street, London, in 1840. Edward Wallis was an English Victorian book, map, board game and music seller, and cartographer; he was also a son of a publisher John Wallis. John Wallis has opened the Map Warehouse in 1775, and the Instructive Toy Warehouse in 1805. Together with his sons John Wallis Jr. and Edward Wallis, he became one of the most prolific publishers of board games in the late 18 and early 19th centuries.
