  • Beginner Soap-Making Workshop Medford, New York
This hands-on workshop is designed for beginners who want to learn how to make real soap from scratch. Whether you're curious about the craft or hoping to create meaningful handmade gifts, you'll leave knowing exactly what you're doing - and ready to try it again at home.

    Small Class, Personal Instruction:
Classes are limited to just four students to allow for individual guidance and a relaxed, unrushed pace.

We move step-by-step, with a focus on proper technique and safety - and I stay with you the whole way through to make sure you feel confident at every stage. Plan on about 2.5 hours together.

    What You'll Learn:
Together we'll cover the basics of traditional cold-process soapmaking - including how to formulate your own recipes. And you can be fully present during class, because everything we cover goes home with you in writing.

    Take-Home Resources, What's Included:
Each student receives hands-on instruction as we make our own soap, plus a printed take-home guide covering:

    • Soapmaking safety, including proper lye handling
    • Essential equipment & tools needed to get started
    • Step-by-step soapmaking instructions
    • Beginner-friendly soap recipes
    • How to use a lye calculator for formulation
    • Trusted supplier list for ingredients and materials
    • Tips for unmolding, cutting and curing your soap
    • Curing guidelines & best practices
    • Troubleshooting tips & common mistakes
    • History of soapmaking, and chemistry - what is soap?

    You'll Also Leave With:
    • Approximately 2 pounds of soap (about 6-8 bars)
    • The confidence to make soap on your own, again and again!

    A Little About Me:
I've been making soap since 2011, and over the years I've spent plenty of time and money learning the craft. This class helps you skip a lot of that trial and error - because I love sharing what I've learned along the way. You'll get my best advice, honest guidance, and practical tips to help you avoid common beginner mistakes - like ignoring the urge to buy all the things you really don't need.

Fun toy but not as durable as I hoped.
Color: Green
I just rescued a dog from the shelter. She is super sweet and playful but she loves to chew her toys so I needed to buy her ones more durable to play with. This toy caught my eye but I was concerned that it might be too large for my small 7 pound terrier mix. After receiving it, I really loved the colors and the way it looked and my dog loves playing with it. Everything about it is great except that within a few weeks of playing with it, she already managed to make a small tear in it. It's not to the point where I would take it away from her toy box but I just wish it was more durable.

Great for tug of war
Color: Green
All the arms make for a good tug of war toy. It’s tough enough that my 70 lbs lab can pull on it and it’s fine

Durable
Color: Green, Color: Green
We’ve had it for awhile now and it’s still (mostly) in one piece. Has held up well for our heavy chewing puppy. It lost a tentacle but that’s nothing compared to the level of destruction our dog has put other toys through in much shorter amounts of time. Recommend for heavy chewers and will likely buy again!

Not large
Color: Green
This is a lot smaller than it appears in pictures. I was going to give it to a large dog but I’m worried it would be a choking hazard. instead I’m going to give it to a pug. Seems fine quality wise just not “large”
