Description:
Why did the twentieth century witness unprecedented organized genocide? Can we learn why genocide is perpetrated by comparing different cases of genocide? Is the Holocaust unique, or does it share causes and features with other cases of state-sponsored mass murder? Can genocide be prevented? Blending gripping narrative with trenchant analysis, Eric Weitz investigates four of the twentieth century's major eruptions of genocide: the Soviet Union under Stalin, Nazi Germany, Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge, and the former Yugoslavia. Drawing on historical sources as well as trial records, memoirs, novels, and poems, Weitz explains the prevalence of genocide in the twentieth century--and shows how and why it became so systematic and deadly. Weitz depicts the searing brutality of each genocide and traces its origins back to those most powerful categories of the modern world: race and nation. He demonstrates how, in each of the cases, a strong state pursuing utopia promoted a particular mix of extreme national and racial ideologies.
In moments of intense crisis, these states targeted certain national and racial groups, believing that only the annihilation of these "enemies" would enable the dominant group to flourish. And in each instance, large segments of the population were enticed to join in the often ritualistic actions that destroyed their neighbors. This book offers some of the most absorbing accounts ever written of the population purges forever associated with the names Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, and Milosevic. A controversial and richly textured comparison of these four modern cases, it identifies the social and political forces that

Perfect Kit For Cold Brew Coffee or Teas
Size: 32 Ounces, Color: Gray
I make coffee many different ways and have been doing cold brew in a regular mason jar without a filter. I just got this set up and am very pleased. The kit comes with a thick glass mason jar of good quality, a filter basket and a lid that fits on top of a wide mouth mason jar. The lid has a sturdy handle attached to it and a secure pour spout with its own snap tight cover.
This is a perfect set up for cold brewing coffee. I filled the jar with water and secured the lid. I shook it up and turned it upside down and there were no leaks so it will be safe from accidental tip overs.
If you are looking for an easy way to make cold brew coffee then I strongly recommend this simple set up. It is shaped just like a regular Mason jar with a pour spout lid so it can fit almost anywhere a Mason jar will fit.
This also looks to be good for making small batches of sun tea with loose leaf tea.
Enjoy!

So close to perfect.
Size: 64 Ounces, Color: Orange
I'm enjoying the hell outa this. On my third batch in a week. No, you don't really need one to make cold brew. You could probably scrounge up everything you need in a reasonably well-stocked kitchen. But it really makes things so much easier. And it cleans up nicely. I might even buy another (I drink a lot of ice coffee in the summer). The ONLY drawback is the cheap, plastic screw-on lid. I don't trust it. I'd pay $10 bucks more for a metal lid. So, we'll take one star back.
