Discover the eclectic world of culinary identity with 'Curry', a thought-provoking essay by Naben Ruthnum that challenges the perceptions surrounding one of the most beloved dishes in global cuisine. This captivating book goes beyond mere recipes, delving into the rich tapestry of stories and cultural significance behind curry, showcasing its infinite variations and regional adaptations. Perfect for food lovers, cultural enthusiasts, and casual readers alike, 'Curry' invites you to explore why this dish has been inaccurately pigeonholed as a monolithic representation of brown identity. With humor and insight, Ruthnum takes you on a journey through novels, travelogues, and pop culture references, revealing how the flavors of curry inform an understanding of heritage and belonging. This B-format paperback, released in 2018 by The Text Publishing Company, features 208 pages of sharp wit reminiscent of Gita Mehta’s 'Karma Cola' and the culinary explorations of Bill Buford’s 'Heat'.
Through each chapter, readers are encouraged to rethink the stereotypes associated with curry and appreciate the diverse experiences of the Indian diasporic community. 'Curry' is more than a book about food; it’s an examination of identity, culture, and the stories we tell ourselves. Bring home this essential read and celebrate the complexity of curry—your taste buds and your mind will thank you!

Optimal Quality
Format: Board book
This book is sturdy, colorful and cute. The baby likes it, so we are happy we got it. The whole collection is worthwhile, and is very well designed for little hands. The baby is now 18 mo old.

Lazy quality
Format: Board book
My book came with a big, ugly, torn off sticker across the front. We collect the Babies Love books for our baby and I just really did not appreciate the ugliness of the outer cover. Seems like laziness to not remove that before sending it to a paying customer.

Just ok
Format: Board book
Love the concept of teaching baby kindness. The words in this one miss the mark unfortunately. This is not one of our favorites.
