Discover 'A Biography of Loneliness', a thought-provoking exploration that transcends the mere concept of loneliness. This groundbreaking book, authored by the esteemed historian Fay Bound Alberti, delves into the rich history and complex emotional landscape of loneliness, challenging the 21st-century notion of it being an epidemic. Through engaging narrative and diligent research, Alberti utilizes an array of historical artifacts, including letters, diaries, and political discourses, to illustrate how loneliness is not a universal experience but a modern emotional state shaped by class, gender, and ethnicity.

This compelling narrative traces the evolution of loneliness from the 18th century to today, revealing its unique language and impact on individuals such as Sylvia Plath, Queen Victoria, and Virginia Woolf. The book argues that rather than a solely negative experience, loneliness can also serve as a catalyst for self-reflection and understanding. Perfect for history enthusiasts, psychology students, or anyone seeking to understand the nuance of human emotions, 'A Biography of Loneliness' is an invaluable addition to both personal and academic libraries.

Description:
Despite 21st-century fears of an 'epidemic' of loneliness, its history has been sorely neglected. A Biography of Loneliness offers a radically new interpretation of loneliness as an emotional language and experience. Using letters and diaries, philosophical tracts, political discussions, and medical literature from the eighteenth century to the present, historian of the emotions Fay Bound Alberti argues that loneliness is not an ahistorical, universal
phenomenon. It is, in fact, a modern emotion: before 1800, its language did not exist. And where loneliness is identified, it is not always bad, but a complex emotional state that differs according to class, gender,
ethnicity and experience. Looking at informative case studies such as Sylvia Plath, Queen Victoria, and Virginia Woolf, A Biography of Loneliness charts the emergence of loneliness as a modern and embodied emotional state.

helped treat my sore neck
Color: White-cooling Basic, Size: Camping Pillow(Pack of 1)
This pillow — after dialing in the right amount of shredded foam — has greatly helped my sore neck. Initially, I had to remove some foam. Then I gradually added foam until it reached optimum comfort and support. It is also CPAP-friendly — especially when I position my head near the pillow's edge. (I am a left-side sleeper.) I like the travel size because I use a bulky hugging pillow to ease stress on my shoulder and elbow. That makes my side of the bed feel cramped if using a larger head pillow. A smaller pillow is easy to flip end-to-end in the middle of the night. I have spent lots of money on pillows over the years, but this is the best I've ever had for relieving [1] neck pain and [2] CPAP mask seal problems. Very comfortable, supportive, and affordable. I did not notice any unpleasant smell — and I am usually sensitive to that kind of thing. Would highly recommend.

Love them!
Color: White-cooling Basic, Size: Queen(Pack of 2)
Love them! After 10 years with our MyPillows, they finally lost their fluff. The reviews I read of the MyPillows of today were not good; they didn’t have as much filling as they used to. These pillows remind me of how fluffy our new MyPillows were 10 years ago!! You sink right into them and can mush them however and they stay. These are way cheaper than the Coop and it’s the same concept; add or remove the filling as needed. The cooling side is a huge plus too! You won’t be disappointed with these pillows!

Deserves more Stars
Size: Queen
I was very hesitant to make a pillow purchase off Amazon. Turns out it’s the very best purchase! I had chronic neck issues the chiropractor couldn’t resolve. It was the first time, I had an unsolvable issue. I finally decided to spend the money and buy new pillows. My neck issue was 95% resolved the next morning. I’m not kidding! It’s now 100% resolved after a very short period of time. They are a wonderful gift to myself.! quality is top-notch. The support is fantastic. They adjustability is phenomenal and you can adjust the firmness because they give you extra foam. They’re completely worth every penny. I’m 61 years old, 100 pounds and very active. Waking up with neck strain was horrible.

I Hit It With the Dryer and It Became a Real Pillow!
Size: Queen
This DreamyBlue Moon Pillow made a much better first impression than I expected. Out of the package it looked like it needed a pep talk, so I threw it in the dryer to fluff it up and it came back with purpose. Just full on BAM. Pillow achieved. The shape is one of the best parts. It actually feels like a pillow that wants to do its job right. Not too weird, not awkwardly bulky, not one of those ones that looks promising until you lay down and realize your head is now parked on a bag of chopped foam and bad decisions. I also really liked being able to customize it. That part matters more than people think. Pillows are weirdly personal, and most of them give you exactly one option: deal with it. This one lets you adjust the fill until it actually feels right, which is a whole lot better than waking up annoyed and pretending it is fine. And for anyone wondering, mine did not have any weird smell. No chemical funk. No “maybe this needs to live on the porch for a day” situation. It just fluffed up, felt good, and got to work. Overall, this has been a solid win. Comfortable shape, easy to adjust, and none of the usual nonsense. Which, for a pillow, is honestly a strong performance.

Soft yet supportive
Size: Queen
I have been through 4 other pillows in the last year trying to find one that supports but isn't too firm. I gave this one a shot and am really loving it. It's soft, comfortable, supports without hurting my neck or shoulder. I am short so some pillows are too high for me. I'm mainly a siide sleeper, this pillow is great as I can place my head anywhere not just middle of very end like the other pillows I was trying. I can sink into it a little yet still have support and it doesn't crush down. It comes with more filler but haven't needed it. I put it in the dryer on ultra delicate when I first got it and it fluffed nicely. Very happy with this product as I am now getting more sleep.
