Spalted Oak Knife Scales SO-521 0.375" x 1.5" x 5.3" 0.1 lbs. This is a set of Spalted White Oak knife scales that will make a beautiful knife handle. They are bookmatched, such that the pieces of wood are mirror images of each other. One scale is 3/8" thick, the other is slightly thinner at about 5/16" thick. This one has some extra character -- borer holes that go through-and-through, as well as a few checks. If I were working with these scales, I'd match a nice dark black epoxy with this wood to fill in and highlight the character marks. The wood has been air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. These are not stabilized. The wood has lost density through the spalting process but should be sufficiently strong to work without stabilizing. |

Nice quick reference to have
