Tasting Notes

Appearance

This extraordinary Australian brandy presents a deep, dark amber natural colour of remarkable intensity and brilliance, displaying the exceptional concentration and character that only a minimum of 40 years of careful barrel maturation can achieve — the oldest component distilled in 1970, presented beautifully in a gift box and crafted at the St Agnes Distillery in Renmark, South Australia.

Aroma

This spirit rewards patience, needing time to open up and reveal its intense aged character. Christmas cake and aged barrel rancio characters gradually unfold into espresso, cacao and dark chocolate, dried apricot and dates, with burnt buttered toast and marmalade adding extraordinary complexity and depth. The bouquet is a testament to over four decades of careful oak barrel maturation — a truly unparalleled aromatic experience of historic concentration and distinction.

Palate

Full and richly textured upfront with a very rich mouthfeel, the alcohol warmth is beautifully offset by tannin grip from barrel maturation. Hints of cardamom, walnut and dense Christmas cake fruits weave through the palate with exceptional complexity, whilst old oak barrel and prune on the finish serve as a further reminder of its remarkable age. The length is unparalleled and deeply satisfying — patience and reflection are needed to get the most from this extraordinary spirit.

Pairs With

This exceptional Australian brandy is a natural companion to dark chocolate, Christmas pudding, espresso, dried figs, aged blue cheese, walnut cake, or enjoyed as a deeply contemplative digestif, making it the ultimate gift for the serious brandy connoisseur and a truly historic addition to any spirits collection.

Good
Format: Paperback
Not as impactful as its predecessor, but still an enjoyable novel. The concepts tackled here are more new adult, though still plenty of young adult to go around.

Beautiful
Format: Paperback
Not as I expected, I kinda was hoping for more of a storyline connected to the first book, or even a pt2, but nonetheless still such a beautiful book filled with love and I definitely say it’s worth reading and adding to your collection ! Just to clarify it does included the old characters but mainly not till the end, and only for a few chapters. Still so wonderful !

I wanted more
Format: Kindle
This one fell a little flat. The ending felt rushed after so much build up. I still am happy to have read it and to learn more about the LGBTQIA experience - even if fictional.

Not as good as the prequel but still amazing
Format: Hardcover
This book made me laugh cry and everything in between. In my opinion, Last Night at The Telegraph Club was a better book overall but this one was also good and i love the way the prequels story was connected to this books main character. I will say the beginning is a bit dry but it picks up towards the middle, stick with it!
