Mauricio Esperon “Parallel Lives”
Mixed media on canvas
Signed verso by artist
22 x 29

A vertically structured abstract composition built through layered planes of color, texture, and gesture. Broad fields of gray and metallic neutrals are interrupted by strong bands of black and saturated red, creating a sense of rhythm and architectural balance throughout the surface. Thick brushwork, scraped textures, and exposed layers give the painting a tactile quality, while the restrained palette keeps the composition grounded and modern. Presented in a silver frame that complements the industrial tonal range of the work.

About the Artist:
Mauricio Esperon is a painter and photographer based in Staunton, Virginia. Originally from Montevideo, Uruguay, he first came to the United States at 19 through a Mennonite Church exchange program and later settled in Virginia in 2005 after living in Miami. He began painting in 2002 after being introduced to art by a coworker, going on to study graphic arts and work in printing. Esperon creates abstract, expressionist work inspired by everyday objects and ordinary surroundings, often painting on wood panels with acrylic and oil and repurposing older canvases into new pieces. He paints part-time while working as a house painter, treating blank walls as another kind of canvas. Currently completing a triptych he began in 2002, Esperon continues to exhibit his work and aims to leave behind meaningful art his children can be proud of.

Very exciting story
Format: Paperback
Paradise is where my parents retired and are buried. The house they lived in burned down in the fire after 34 years of wonderful memories with my husband and our 3 children. We are just so grateful that my parents died before the fire, my dad being the last in 2016 at over 100 years old. Our youngest son has autism and trouble reading so this was the perfect book to have him read to me. It’s just at his reading level and was a very exciting story. We appreciate all of the facts about the fire the author put in the last pages of this book, too.

Fast Pace Scary Read
Format: Kindle
A short read that grabs your heart strings from the beginning and doesn't stop until the very end. You can feel the terror, the fear, the fire and smell the smoke as the kids run for their lives. You cheer the kids on scared for them and the pets. My heart racing, tears forming, worry working its way in, do they make it? Read this book to find out. Kudos to the authors for excellent writing. A book all should read and discuss with their families!!!

Grabs Your Attention from the Start
Format: Paperback
Well written and definitely grabs and keeps your attention. I read it in one sitting. So did my mom and sister. Just a warning, this book did trigger some anxiety for me because of the fire. It uses actual street names and timeframes. We love to read the “I Survived” series to my son and this one was better in my opinion but I have ties to Paradise.
