The high/low speed works exactly as expected and at high speed, it grinds really fast. The motor is powerful and does not feel like it's going to give up even when grinding salt or pepper at high speed and on the fine setting. It is easy to refill, holds a long charge and just simply works. Buy this. You will not be disappointed... and say goodbye to having to wash your hands everytime you flip a raw piece of meat or chicken to salt and pepper when using a two hand manual grinder.
