Hackberry Bowl Blank Hk-441 3.5" x 6" x 7" 3.1 lbs. This is an irregularly shaped quarter-log of slightly spalted Texas Hackberry. It has very pretty grain that is mostly straight to slightly curving. There are some eye-catching black line spalting fronts visible in the blank, gently cross-cutting the grain. The colors are a cool gray-brown, with darker brown to black spalting features. This block has only part of its bark -- some has fallen off. You can turn a barkless natural edge bowl from this blank. Hackberry is not a very hard wood and tends to be fibrous, so sharp tools are most effective. Spalted, Hackberry can be a beautiful wood and is well suited for decorative turnings. However, I recommend that you do not choose Hackberry for any projects requiring heavy use (such as utility bowls, knife handles, game calls, etc.) unless you have plans on some type of "hardening" procedure. I also recommend that you take light cuts with sharp tools to avoid the tear-out problems common with spalted woods. This blank does have some minor drying cracks that you will likely want to fill or reinforce with CA glue prior to turning. This is a GREEN to partially air-dried bowl blank, meaning that it still retains a lot of its original moisture from when it was a living tree. It has been well-sealed on end-grain surfaces with Anchor Seal and is in the process of slowly drying. It has been heat-treated to eliminate any gnawing critters. It was measured at ~25% MC in May 2022. If you need a current moisture content, please message us and we'll check its status for you. About the Tree This Texas-grown Hackberry tree was removed from a Brangus cattle ranch in Pattison, Texas in 2021. Hackberry is a common fenceline tree in Texas, and it tends to disrupt the fence as it grows. This particular tree was removed by the rancher when it interfered with his fenceline. It was saved from the rancher's burn pile and carefully sealed and dried. It was milled in early 2022, and it is now ready for a trip to your shop for the next stage in its life. Leather purse

The purse is not to big or small. I like being able to readily carry it different was easily. The exterior back zip pocket is great for carrying a little cash and my most frequently used credit cards. My only complaint would be I'd like the interior open pockets to be a little deeper. I ordered the brown color. It looks and feels great.

Love this bag, wish it was even bigger!

This is a nice squishy pebbled leather crossbody tote. I'm using it as a work bag BUT it won't fit a 16 inch laptop so if that's a consideration skip this one. It does fit a 10 inch iPad and Kindle, plus a compact umbrella, wallet, over ear headphones, full size body spray and lotion, big pack of gum, several lip products and dental floss, mini hand sanitizer, small brush, pens and a notebook... So basically my whole life fits in it aside from my laptop. It smells like leather, and I love that. The brown color has lots of variations so it looks like it has a patina already. I sprayed it with Apple Garde for waterproofing and it didn't affect the feel or color of the bag at all. This bag is really pretty and I get compliments on it daily. The zipper seems sturdy and never catches or gets stuck. It molds itself to my body like a softer leather should and I would say that it's absolutely worth the price. The strap is wide, sturdy, and comfortable too. There are multiple pockets on one inner side, a zippered middle compartment, and a zippered side compartment on the inside as well, along with an outer pocket so there's plenty of organization without having to buy an insert. I wish they had this available in an even bigger size to fit a standard laptop!

Expectations not met re. bag!

The seller was fantastic, as he/she accepted my return and refunded me immediately. Seller gets 5 stars.
Even thou this bag is a stunning Navy Blue, BEAUTIFUL stitching, beautiful zippers and liner, wrapped professionally with TLC, I could not stand the very strong smell. I don't know if the smell was due to the navy blue color/dye or not. I can't even describe the smell... besides that it's not leather.
I was gifted the same bag in "light brown" and that bag smells like leather; it's like you are in Rome shopping for the real thing! I love that bag as I can wear it crossbody, shoulder or hand held. Unfortunately, it too small for me.
So I thought, if I am buying bigger, let's do the dark blue. Was I wrong.
I really had high expectations for this bag. :0(
