It is particularly rich in iron, magnesium, phosphorous, zinc and niacin (vitamin B3) as well as micronutrients such as calcium and vitamin E. Ridged mezzi rigatoni pasta is typical of central and southern Italy, the name meaning half-ridged. It carries sauce well and is superb with creamy mushroom, tomato and vegetable sauces.
