About the artform:

Sohrai painting is a mural art tradition practiced by women in the Hazaribagh district of Jarkhand. It was traditionally done to decorate the hut walls during the harvest festivals using limited number of natural pigments.

Sohrai is prevalent in about 13 villages of Hazaribagh district. These include Bhelwara, Lukaiya, Purninano, Isco, Ango, Oriya, Kharanti, Saheda, Purnapani, Jarwadhi and Jorakath. Each village has their own style and motifs.

Most of the colours used for the paintings are derived from mud. The red is derived from iron oxide and the black comes from a manganese-rich clay found in certain hilly areas. The creamy white colour is kaolin and called dudhi matti

About the workshop:

This is going to be an intensive study of the tradition of Sohrai paintings. We study the history and cultural relevance of the Sohrai paintings and the practicing tribes. In this 10 hours workshop, we will learn about all the different styles associated with each village.

Season 1 we studied Bhelwara and Jorakath village styles, this season we will lay focus on other 2-3 styles like Ganju, Santhal and one more if we can accomodate, learning all the motifs and the techniques to create compositions. We will create a database of motifs, their meanings and their usage.

About the artist:

Adam Christopher is the grandson of Padma Sri Bulu Imam ji. His family is dedicated to preservation and promotion of the tribal culture at Hazaribagh, Jharkhand for decades now.

Great coffee at a great price point.
Flavor Name: Dark Roast, Size: 100 Count (Pack of 1)
I priced these against the pods were were getting from big box and grocery stores and found these were slightly less expensive. Took a chance on these when I didn't have time to run to the store. My coffee connoisseur co-worker said they were the best we've had and our guests have commented on how nice the flavor is. For the price, you can't beat it.

A dark option.
Flavor Name: Dark Roast, Size: 100 Count (Pack of 1)
I decided to try this--I like a robust, rich flavored coffee. The color of Happy Belly Dark is good but the flavor a bit lacking for me.

Remarkable Quality at that Price!
Flavor Name: Dark Roast, Size: 24 Count (Pack of 1)
Look folks, it’s not Barista Prima or Starbucks, but it’s very inexpensive for what you get. It’s strong and tastes pretty good and will wake you up. What more can you ask for?

Amazon refunded us immediately; we requested credit
Flavor Name: Dark Roast, Size: 100 Count (Pack of 1)
This coffee was great tasting, the aroma was nice, BUT the containers were the problem. Amazon took care of us right away and refunded us; they didn't even want the rest of the coffee pods back or proof of all the ones that burst open in our coffee maker. Here's the only reason we snatched off two stars; the foil tops came loose ( in all the Happy Belly Flavors we purchased) while in our keurig/pod style coffee maker. Grinds were in the cups of coffee and all over the inside of our coffee maker. We decided to try to not waste the coffee after Amazon said to keep or throw away the faulty product, so we, one by one open and pour the Happy Belly ground coffee(s) into a 12 cup coffee maker basket when we have lots of coffee to prepare. The coffee itself is delicious and fresh, but something's wrong with the packaging's foil pod tops on all the types of Happy Belly we bought. Too bad, because it's good coffee, priced at a bargain, it's just too bad the pods are falling apart messy.
