When to Replace
- Visible cracks, breaks, or significant wear on the head housing.
- Internal mechanism fails to feed line when the head is tapped.
- The bump knob is worn through and no longer functions.
- Line guide eyelets are worn out, causing the line to fray or break frequently.
- Excessive or unusual vibration during use.
Installation Tips
- Ensure the engine is off and disconnect the spark plug wire before servicing.
- To remove the old head, insert a locking pin or small screwdriver into the designated hole on the gear head to prevent the shaft from turning.
- Unscrew the old trimmer head by turning it clockwise (it has a left-hand thread).
- Clean any dirt or debris from the trimmer's threaded shaft.
- Screw the new head on counter-clockwise until it is firmly hand-tight.
