The foundation of the Jack Casady Fretless Bass is a layered maple body with a single-ply cream binding on the top and back, and an Aged Royal Tan finish that speaks to the vintage lineage of this instrument. A comfortable C-shaped mahogany neck provides a familiar playing experience for fretted bass players transitioning to fretless, and is topped with a laurel fingerboard with a 34" scale length.
The Jack Casady Fretless Bass eliminates frets entirely, allowing bassists to achieve a smooth, singing tone and explore microtonal intervals not possible on fretted instruments. This design demands a skilled touch but opens doors for a unique and expressive playing style.
A single Casady-designed JCB-1 low-impedance humbucker makes up the pickup selection for this fretless bass. This pickup delivers a powerful, punchy sound that's paired with the three-position Vari-Tone control, allowing selection from classic tones, brighter high-end sounds, and even an impedance switch for a wider range of tonal possibilities. In addition, a Master Volume and Tone are found just below the pickup.
Classic hardware appointments include a three-point adjustable bridge for precise intonation control and die-cast clover button tuners that offer smooth tuning action and a touch of old-school cool.
