Mesquite Block M1186 3.8" x 3.8" x 8" 3.3 lbs. This is a beautiful all-heartwood block of Texas-grown Mesquite. It captures a crotch in the blank -- you can see one branch heading off from the back of the blank, opposite the annotated side. The grain should be very pretty near the intersection. This is a GREEN to partially air-dried blank, meaning that it still retains some of its original moisture from when it was a living tree. It has been well-sealed with Anchor Seal and is in the process of slowly drying. It was heat-treated to kill off any hungry critters that may have been burrowing inside. It was measured at 20% MC in August 2022. If you need a current moisture content, please message us and we'll check its status for you. There are cracks aplenty in this block as well as some complex grain around the crotch. We recommend it for an experienced turner who will fill the cracks with CA glue or epoxy. It has potential to produce an exceptional turning. About the Tree This Texas-grown Honey Mesquite tree was harvested in El Campo, Texas in July of 2022. It was cut down by the city for reasons unknown to us, and we were happy to help save the tree from a burn pile. It is possible that this tree was damaged by the Valentine's Day Freeze that Texas suffered in February 2021, which is when our state lost a lot of beautiful trees in an unusually deep and long freeze. |

It's ok. Leaves a white cast and burns the eyes.

Its good as it's not too heavy and definitely not greasy. However, it leaves a horrible white cast. And I have pretty fair skin. I have to use some type of bronzing drops before hand. Or put a tinted SPF moisturizer on top. It's pretty bad on that and it stings my eyes SOO badly I've had to wash it off! Burns that bad. So if your eyes are sensitive to sunscreen around the eyes. This will sting and burn, dont use it around the eyes if you can help it.

Super light and doesn't come off with sweat

Great stuff. Its super light, once the smell wears away you forget you every applied sunscreen. It also goes on super easily and doesn't leave my face super shiny.
To my surprise it also doesn't come off easily with sweat. I've used other brands and the moment you sweat it just all washes away.
Overall great stuff. The fragrance is a bit strong for me but I usually use unscented stuff so I'm extra sensitive to it. Good thing is the smell does wear away after a little bit.
