Its generous, oversized roof keeps the interior chamber protected from rain and snow, as its slightly curved edges and extra lip direct precipitation away from the roost. A 1.5625" diameter opening surrounded by a wooden predator guard allows mountain and western bluebirds to enter the home while deterring mammals from reaching in and stealing eggs. Fledglings can readily reach the exit to leave the nest box when ready thanks to a ladder on the inside of the front panel, and gaps in each base corner ensure the cavity remains dry. Additional gaps below the large roof overhang offer ventilation, furthered by the 0.75" thick pine boards and their light coloration. Over time, these sustainably sourced panels will age to a striking gray hue, and an attached back hanger makes placement on a post, tree, or wall simple. Use a mounting bracket (not included) on the base for a different display option, and lift one latched side panel to perform nest checks and periodic maintenance. All around helpful---worth the money!

This guide has been most helpful for all the folks I help prepare for the iTEP test! It gives insight into what each section of the test is looking for along with examples and great tips about actually TAKING the test. In the Writing and Speaking sections, it also gives sample scores and comments from the Master Grader which is very helpful too.

Comprehensive, clear and coherent!

The iTEP Practice Guide combines a no-nonsense approach to the specific iTEP tests and at the same time offers exercises that task the student with what they need to know. Exercises not only serve the purpose of scoring well, but the overall approach is communicative competence. We use the text in our group and one-to-one classes with very positive--and lasting--results.
