“Atiba asked me if I’d be interested in doing a board with his photos of Interpol & myself mixed together. As I had picked one of their songs “Obstacle 1” Twenty years ago for my part in Girl Skateboards video “yeah right!”  So I excitedly said yes of course. 20 years? Wow! I remember bringing the CD “Turn on The Bright Lights” to Ty Evans apartment on Sunset? I said to him. “I got this song of this great band and not a lot of people know how good they are yet. I really want to use this song.” And Ty loved it. He started editing to it right away. I had so much footage and it’s one of the best video parts I’ve had. What an incredible feeling.  Also I remember being so happy that Ty didn’t show me much of the video. I liked that. I wanted to be almost as surprised as someone who had no involvement. I had helped with a lot of skits so I had a feel for the video but at the premiere I was very surprised by everyone’s skate footage. I had only witnessed a handful of my teammates tricks in person. Everyone’s skating was amazing. Great editing & filming. Great skits. Incredible music and skateboarding. I am very proud to have skated so hard and worked so hard on all the little things with our Girl/Chocolate family. Seasons like that in life are priceless.” —Brian Anderson

    This can opener is an easy, hands free tool, to use. It does open canned items efficiently, but slower than hand-turn openers, which saves a painful wrist motion from which I suffer. Unlike a traditional opener, this one cuts under the can edge which requires caution when removing the lid as exposed cut edges are very sharp. Also, the opener does not stop when it has completed its circuit. The start button has to be pressed to stop action.

    Update: I've owned it a year now, still on original batteries (surprised me), it still works great. I still get a little annoyed with how slow it it, but might be time for new batteries. Once in a blue moon the circle is not completely cut, but that's on me as I control when to stop it, to reverse. No issuese removing lid, very smooth. Love it. Original review: I'm pleasantly surprised. It does a great job! Very smooth, safe cut. Who knew? That said, it is much slower than a standard electric can opener, and you have no idea where it's cutting. Now I started on the first letter on the product's label, and pay attention to when the circle is complete. Press the "on" button a second time and it goes backwards for a few seconds. Done! Use the attached magnet to pull off the lid. I'm thinking of buying a second one. Also, I very much like that it uses standard batteries, nothing weird to look for. Well done!

    Opener leaves wire threads on the rim of the can when opening. Poses a danger if ingested.

    Purchased this item hoping it would make opening cans easier (I have osteoarthritis in my hands). First time I tried it, after it rounded the lid of a can of DelMonte green beans, nothing. I reseated it, and held it down when it started. It opened the can after circling the top two times. When I took the lid off the can, there were tiny wire "threads" stuck on the can, and more stuck on the Kitchen Mama opener. I was able to very carefully wipe the wire threads off and pour the can of beans into my pan. HOWEVER, I will not use this product again. Who wants to run the risk of ingesting wire threads?!!! I would return the product for a refund, but my husband destroyed the box opening it, so this will go into the garbage. I wouldn't sell at a garage sale or donate it, because someone else might ingest the wire threads, and then Kitchen Mama would have a lawsuit on their hands I wouldn't have given ANY stars, but you have to give at least one to write a review.

They followed up, honored the warranty, and sent me a replacement even though I couldn’t provide photos at the time. The replacement works perfectly and the experience was way less stressful than I expected. **** Original Review: I just needed a simple electric can opener because I have crippling pain in my hands and I can't use a manual one. I didn't expect anything fancy but for the one job this thing had it still really let me down. This thing is so slow it reminds me of my AOL days. And when it's done, it just... keeps going. When you turn it off it takes FOREVER to wind down. The first few times I tried yanking it off because I thought it was stuck. And then it fully died in under a year. But honestly maybe what bothers me the most of all is when I contacted customer support about the warranty replacement, I got an email back asking for photographic proof that my BATTERIES WERE IN CORRECTLY. Really? (A photo that I could not provide because it had broken days earlier and I threw it in the trash, who hoards broken appliances?). I really expected better from a ‘reputable’ brand.
