Presented here is Billie Pool's second and, sadly, last album, Confessin' the Blues, on which she sings with the support of an all-star small group consisting of the Junior Mance Trio plus guitarist Kenny Burrell.

This LP brings back the second of two Riverside albums cut by singer Billie Poole in 1962. Other than a single from a few years earlier, the two sets were Poole's entire recording legacy. Poole was an expressive singer who favoured blues-oriented jazz material and for this date here chosen rhythm section was the unbeatable Junior Mance Trio plus guitaristKenny Burrell.

Featuring mostly vintage material with a few more contemporary songs of the day added for variety, Poole's interpretations of such classic as 'Confessin' the Blues' (Walter Brown/JayMcShann), 'Stormy Weather' (Harold Arlen/Ted Koehler), 'Alone Together'(Arthur Schwartz), and 'God Bless the Child' by Billie Holiday/Arthur Herzog Jr.)are exceptional and as good as any other recorded versions.
