Michael Garrick works for Edgar Simon, counsel to the president, and knows the inside workings of Washington and the precarious image-management duties of the First Family. Attorney/author Meltzer offers us a novel of conspiracy and skulduggery at the highest levels of Washington's power structure. Michael Young, an idealistic lawyer in the White House counsel's office, is on a date with Nora, the very sexy, intriguing, enigmatic daughter of the president, when they see the chief counsel in a compromising position. Nora's questionable behavior quickly throws them into the middle of a plot that involves blackmail and murder, with every indication of guilt pointing directly at our hero. Is it concern about reelection that keeps Nora from coming forward or a desire to make things worse? Her strong propensity for danger and risk and serious problem with truth do nothing to prevent Michael, ever the boy scout, from risking everything he has to shield her mostly from herself. He runs afoul of the FBI, mistrusts his friends, and consorts with known criminals all in an effort to save his reputation and life as well as preserve the well-being of his father (a unique character to say the least). Although this novel breaks no new literary ground, the Washington color and scenery and the unusual cast of characters take it a step above your average page-turner and will keep you reading until the startling conclusion. Danise Hoover

Nice Filter Wrench for my Volvo V70XC!

I was needing a filter wrench for my 2001 Volvo V70XC and couldn't find anything that fit from the local auto parts stores. Not knowing what to expect, I took a chance on this one since most of the reviews were 5 star and the price was exceptional. When I received it, I was quite pleased with the construction and finish. I have a brand new oil filter housing for my Volvo (since the one currently on my car is chewed up from the former owner using slip-jaw pliers or something on it) and the fit is perfect! I have worked as a mechanic my whole life (aircraft & automotive), and spent a couple of years as a technician at an automotive dealership and I can say that the tool looks like it is designed for heavy-duty use. The stamped steel housing is thicker than those found in local auto parts stores and the drive adapter has a thick arc welded bead along the inside of the tool. So, it appears to be made to hold up to some fairly heavy torque. Although the product description states that it is 1/2", the drive adapter is actually made for direct attachment to a 3/8" drive. Perhaps this error stems from the fact that they offer a much larger wrench (118-131mm) and this is a more accurate description of their other offerings. The 3/8" drive adapter works perfectly and a 21mm socket fits nicely on the external hex. Fits with SAE sizes are a mixed bag, though. I was able to attach a 13/16" 12-pt. box-end wrench, but not the opposing open-end. A similarly sized 13/16" 6-pt. socket was extremely tight, so I wouldn't recommend this size and would just go with the 21mm if you had to use the external hex. Otherwise, just use the 3/8" drive adapter for easiest use of this tool. The adapter also incorporates ball detents on all four sides of the internal 3/8" drive, so your ratchet or extension won't easily fall off while in use. Since this tool is made for oil filter removal & installation, I'm sure that it will deliver as promised. I'll post an update after my next oil change and I get a chance to use it and install the new filter housing I have.

The Perfect Tool - Life is Short So Just Buy It.

So. Life is too short to struggle with little demons and other inconveniences. I change oil in all my cars, trucks, and SUVs. One of my cars is a V6 Hyundai and the filter cartridge is inside a housing that is sometimes more than a tad inconvenient to loosen and screw back in place. My regular filter removal tools including strap style as well as a three arm gripper type just did not perform very well. I saw this thing, ordered it, and man...it is perfect. The metal top allows a wrench ( spanner) or a socket wrench to be used. I have a fancy Snapon torque wrench which I can also use just to be fancy. In any case removing and re-securing the filter housing on the Hyundai V6 is now a breeze. The cap wrench itself is solid and very well constructed Five stars and count me in as impressed. Well done CTA Tools !!!
