The demand for the PT 19 was so high that Fairchild had to enlist other companies, such as Aeronca and Howard

To further improve training, the PT-19A was released with a more powerful engine, and over 3,500 were ordered. Additionally, 917 PT-19Bs were built with instruments specifically for blind flying training.
