This is a beautiful board of moderately spalted Texas-grown Pecan wood.   Its color is a soft tan to peachy light brown color with subtle darker-brown streaks of spalt coloration.  There are a many zones of mineralization as well as lines of black pencil-line spalting.  The wood grain has a pleasant and gracefully flowing pattern. 

This piece is GREEN to partially air-dried, meaning that it still retains a lot of its original moisture from when it was a living tree..  Moisture content was 20-25% when measured in May, 2022.   It has been well-sealed with Anchor Seal and is in the process of slowly drying.   It was heat-treated to kill off any hungry critters that may have been burrowing inside.  If you need a current moisture content, please message us and we'll check its status for you.

This piece of Pecan has plenty of character in it.  There are open, during-growth cracks that have spalting along them.  There are borer holes, most with spalting.  Some are open, others are frass-filled.  This piece is rough-sawn with surface irregularities and non-square faces; you'll want to plane and joint it if planning to use it in flatwork.

And this stuff sticks like crazy, once its laid down and rolled onto the surface, it is hard to remove, so I am pretty sure it will stay where I installed it. It is great value, one box was enough to do the whole roof of the truck with a little left over for small spots. I think it took a total of 2.5 boxes to do my whole crew cab, roof, floor and back wall and most of the firewall, and I also added a layer of their .25" foam.
