I probably would have been fine in the large, but I just wanted a little more room and I wanted it to come to my knees so I ordered the XL and I love it. There is a second layer under the dress that has shorts and a tank top built in. Unfortunately, you must take the entire thing off to use the restroom but I am considering adding snaps to the crotch so that it is easier and I won't have to completely undress to use the restroom. The olive/army green is beautiful and I am planning to order the plum color dress as another addition to my summer wardrobe.
