Coriander has a warm, sweet and spicy aroma. Although this aromatic spice is most well-known for its use in Mediterranean cuisine, the use of coriander oil, produced from the seeds of the coriander plant, has provided numerous health benefits over the centuries. Coriander seeds are rich in vitamins and minerals, including iron, copper, calcium, potassium, manganese, zinc and magnesium. Its use in foods and in clinical agents could prevent foodborne illnesses, and even treat antibiotic-resistant infections, according to the authors of a study published in the Journal of Medical Microbiology. This oil’s warming effect may be helpful for alleviating muscle aches and pain related to rheumatism, arthritis, and muscle spasms and strains. It may also be used to aid in digestion, ease cramps and convulsions, and treat fungal infections.

A study from the University of Beira Interior in Portugal has shown that coriander oil is very powerful against a broad range of harmful bacteria. The researchers tested coriander oil against 12 bacterial strains, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica, Bacillus cereus, and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Of the tested strains, all showed reduced growth, and most were killed, by solutions containing 1.6% coriander oil or less.

This study not only shows that coriander oil also has an antibacterial effect, but provides an explanation for how it works, which was not previously understood. “The results indicate that coriander oil damages the membrane surrounding the bacterial cell. This disrupts the barrier between the cell and its environment and inhibits essential processes including respiration, which ultimately leads to death of the bacterial cell,” explained Dr. Fernanda Domingues who led the study. The researchers suggest that this oil could have important applications in the food and medical industries. “In developed countries, up to 30% of the population suffers from food-borne illness each year. This research encourages the design of new food additives containing coriander oil that would combat food-borne pathogens and prevent bacterial spoilage,” said Dr. Domingues. “Coriander oil could also become a natural alternative to common antibiotics. We envision the use of coriander…to fight multidrug-resistant bacterial infections that otherwise could not be treated. This would significantly improve people’s quality of life.”

Andreas Coriander Seed Oil is NOT an essential oil

Description

“When I began pressing Andreas Coriander Seed Oil back in 2011, I was not fully aware of the immense powers locked inside the seed. I took Andreas Coriander Seed Oil, along with my other oils, and found the missing link that has lead to a complete recovery from my Crohn’s Disease. Andreas Coriander Seed Oil killed the main contributor of Crohn’s Disease, Candida. Research has shown that the overgrowth of Candida is the cause of over 90% of health problems affecting Western Civilization.

After taking Andreas Coriander Seed Oil in the years since, I have not been affected by common illnesses such as colds and influenza. I have seen health miracles happen in my family, as well as in other families, while taking this oil. My family uses Andreas Coriander Seed Oil for dental hygiene, digestion, prevention of food-borne illness, cuts and sprains, to reduce swelling and inflammation, and to reduce fever. I also Andreas Coriander Seed Oil for my horses and dogs, for internal and external use. I never leave the house without a bottle of Andreas Coriander Seed Oil, and I recommend you do the same.”

Cute little story. Goes with my daughter’s kindergarten curriculum which is why I bought. Has so many options for crafts and activities that can go with it-colors, seasons, poetry.

It's a really nice story about how we all have different ways of ...
A new acquaintance recently introduced me to "Frederick," a charming, very short children's picture book about a family of field mice who are preparing for the winter. One of them, a young mouse named Frederick, does not do much work and appears to be shirking his responsibilities. Frederick explains to his skeptical family that he IS working by quietly gathering imaginary sun rays for the cold winter days to come. The book ends with the mice experiencing a tough winter, and then being inspired to carry on by a poem Frederick has created that grew out of his meditations when his family members thought he was being lazy. It's a really nice story about how we all have different ways of making contributions, and that important work is not always readily visible, especially creative endeavors. The book also has some exercises for children, including one that guides a participant into writing a poem. If you read this story to a child and then make a poem together, it'll make a sweet project! A few of the words in the story are a bit advanced for young children, which offers a nice vocabulary building opportunity and does not detract from the story. What I like best about "Frederick" is that it acknowledges that we humans are not all the same, and that we need our different talents and personalities to "make it through the winter." It might be especially nice to share with that child in your life who "marches to the beat of a different drummer."
