The original Star Realms game is a two-player deck-building game of space combat that had huge success both as a small box card game and also in its digital implementation. The world of Star Realms has been vastly expanded and this latest version has a number of exciting new twists. Star Realms Frontiers can be played as a solo or co-operative game, as well as having enough starting decks to play new multiplayer game modes with up to four players. If you know how to play Star Realms, Frontiers will be immediately familiar to you. On your turn you draw five cards from your deck and play them. Cards mostly give you currency or combat, currency is used to buy new cards from the market, while combat is used to attack your enemies. If you manage to play multiple cards from the same faction in one turn then you can trigger bonus abilities to make your cards more powerful. While most cards disappear after being played, bases hang around until your opponent uses their combat to destroy them. There are a few other bonuses such as gaining authority (aka health), drawing cards, trimming your deck or forcing your opponent to discard. If you manage to reduce your opponent's authority to zero then you win. The new co-operative mode introduces bosses which all operate slightly different, with unique win conditions for the players. Each player still has their own deck, but the bosses certainly provide a challenge and make you work together and play carefully to win. You can also play against the bosses as a solo mode.
