From Z-man Games comes a Round the World Carcassonne game set in the Amazon - Carcassonne: Amazonas. This sets players sailing down the great Amazon river where they score points for discovering animals, visiting native villages and the course in the river!
Once all the tiles have been used up then the final scoring begins with the player with the most points being declared the winner.
Like all Carcassonne games, a turn consists of taking a tile and placing it in a legal space on the ever expanding board, with Amazon river tiles extending the river further into the rain forest. You can then either place a meeple on the tile or move your boat farther down the river.
Meeples can be placed in the river tributaries or in native villages, with the player who controls the completed village scoring two points per tile and per fruit basket and likewise when a tributary is completed, the controlling player gains one point per tile and per fruit basket.
Some tiles have a boat symbol which allows the player to advance their boat along the river if able.
When an amazon tile is drawn and the amazon river extended, a special scoring round begins where the lead player gains points equal to the number of caiman and piranha and the boat in second place scores points equal to the number of piranhas, the other players score nothing but can move their boats forward one space.
During final scoring unfinished villages and tributaries score a point, each player also has camps which they can place during the game, during final scoring the owner of the camps gains points based on the number of animals within reach.
