David Trubridge is a New Zealand-based designer whose lighting, furniture and sculpture installations are found in homes, commercial settings, and museums world-wide. Natural forms inspire the individual component shapes and the repeated patterns of the assembled pendants. Trubridge’s manufacturing practice minimizes demand on the planet’s ecosystems. The components for his pendant lights are formed in bamboo from renewable resources and are shipped unassembled in kit-sets to optimize low-energy shipping.

The Coral Pendant is based on one of the geometric polyhedra that have interested David since he was a boy. The intricate form is made from just one single component repeated 60 times. Originally designed purely as an experiment, it later became a light when David tried to find a use for it by putting a bulb inside. "Coral" was David's first lighting design which now is considered to be a design classic.
