In Defence of Democracy is an essential read for anyone concerned about the state of democratic governance in today's world. This thought-provoking book, authored by the insightful Canadian-Irish writer Roslyn Fuller, boldly tackles pressing issues influencing our democratic institutions. As political events like Brexit and the Trump presidency raise questions about the efficacy of democracy, Fuller passionately argues that it's not 'the people' who are at fault, but rather the elite structures undermining true democratic engagement. With 216 pages of incisive commentary, this enlightening book examines how prominent academics and politicians propose limiting popular participation, undermining the very essence of democracy. In this compelling work, Fuller reveals how ancient democratic practices can be harmoniously integrated with modern technology to rejuvenate the principles of participatory governance. This book is vital for students, political enthusiasts, and those grappling with the complexities of modern democracy. It inspires hope for a future where voters reclaim their power and renew the essence of democratic rule. The book is in brand new condition and published by John Wiley & Sons (UK) in 2019, making it a relevant addition to any bookshelf interested in contemporary political discourse. Description:

Should Brexit or Trump cause us to doubt our faith in democracy? Are ˜the people™ too ignorant or stupid to rule? Numerous commentators are seriously arguing that the answer to these questions might be ˜yes™.

In this take-no-prisoners book, Canadian-Irish author Roslyn Fuller kicks these anti-democrats where it hurts the most “ the facts. Fuller shows how many academics, journalists and politicians have embraced the idea that there can be ˜too much democracy™, and deftly unravels their attempts to end majority rule, whether through limiting the franchise, pursuing Chinese ˜meritocracy™ or confining participation to random legislation panels. She shows that Trump, Brexit or whatever other political event you may have disapproved of recently aren™t doing half the damage to democracy that elite self-righteousness and corruption are. In fact, argues Fuller, there are real reasons to be optimistic. Ancient methods can be combined with modern technology to revitalize democracy and allow the people to truly rule.

In Defence of Democracy is a witty and energetic contribution to the debate on the future of democracy.

beautiful draping and forgiving
Size: X-Large, Color: Navy Polka Dot
A beautiful dress. Well made. Fully lined. I don't know what they mean by front slit. There's no slit unless they meant there's a waist line. Fitted but true to size. There's a side zipper that helps get in and out of the dress. There's also a corset in the back that pulls any slack. I'm 5'5" and weigh 185 lbs. It's ankle length. The Drop makes good dresses. I bought the Crimson too and it's a beautiful red that makes everyone turn and gaze. There's another dress the Drop makes which is polka dot and same version in ivory. Beautiful draping and forgiving. I found these dresses when viewed at emanuela.moss@tiktok.

Cute dress, just not for me.
Size: Medium, Color: Iceberg Linear Floral, Size: Medium, Color: Iceberg Linear Floral
5’4”, size 6/8. I bought a medium. The Good — the color is accurate, and the pattern is pretty in person. It’s fully lined, and The material doesn’t feel cheap. The Bad — the fit was just odd. I’m a 6/8 and reliably a medium, but the fit was so weird on me, that I’m not even sure what the problem was. I don’t know how a bust can be both too big and too small, but that’s what I felt like here! The length was also not good for me, but is accurate to the picture. I’m 5’4” and it hit right above the ankle bone. TLDR; the dress is nice, but the fit is bad on me.
