Sage the Barista Express SES875: bean-to-cup espresso with integrated grinder

The Sage Barista Express is the all-in-one Sage built its reputation on. Integrated conical burr grinder, 54mm portafilter, manual steam wand, all in one footprint. Pour the beans in the top, grind straight into the basket, pull the shot, steam the milk by hand. No separate grinder, no dosing scale on the counter, no third-machine compromise. The classic starter machine for anyone who wants to learn proper espresso without buying the workflow piece by piece.

The Express has been on the market long enough that the trade-offs are well understood. You get a real espresso machine with a real grinder for around half the price of the same setup bought separately. You lose some refinement compared to the newer Impress (no auto-tamping) and the Bambino Plus (no auto-milk). What you keep is the most repairable, most-documented, most-tutorialed bean-to-cup espresso machine Sage has ever sold.

Integrated conical burr grinder, 18 grind settings

The built-in burr grinder is the feature that defines this machine. 18 grind settings give you enough range to dial in espresso roasts from medium to dark, and the dose is metered straight into the portafilter while it sits in the cradle. No separate grinder taking up counter space, no transferring grounds between vessels, no static mess. The grinder predates the Smart Grinder Pro and shares much of its design DNA: same conical burrs, similar mechanism.

54mm portafilter, single + double basket

54mm portafilter with single and double baskets included. This is Sage's own standard, distinct from the 58mm commercial standard used on the Sage Dual Boiler, Oracle range, and Lelit prosumer machines. If you stay in the Bambino / Express tier, the accessory ecosystem (tampers, distribution tools, precision baskets) is well-stocked. If you upgrade to 58mm later, 54mm tools don't transfer.

Pressure gauge for live extraction feedback

Analogue pressure gauge on the front shows extraction pressure in real time. The green zone marks the 9-bar espresso sweet spot. New users get a visual cue for whether their grind is too coarse (low pressure, fast shot) or too fine (high pressure, slow shot) without needing to scale or time anything. Most useful piece of training equipment Sage builds into the machine.

ThermoCoil heating, PID-controlled

ThermoCoil heating system with PID temperature control delivers water at 93°C, repeatable shot to shot. Warm-up takes around 45 seconds from cold. Slower than the Bambino Plus ThermoJet (3 seconds) but plenty fast in absolute terms. Once warm, back-to-back shots stay at temperature.

Manual steam wand for milk texturing

Manual 360° steam wand. No automation, no presets. You learn to texture milk by hand. The wand and boiler are tuned for proper microfoam, dense enough for latte art if you put the time in. If hands-off milk is what you want, the Bambino Plus with Auto MilQ is the cheaper sibling that handles steaming automatically. The Express expects you to do it yourself.

Programmable single + double, manual pour

Two programmable volumetric buttons for single and double shots, plus a manual mode for pulling by eye. Set the dose once, hit the button every morning, or take full manual control when you want to dial in a new bag.

Included accessories

Comes with the Razor precision dose trimmer, Dosing Funnel, 54mm stainless portafilter, single and double pressurised + non-pressurised baskets, 480ml steel milk jug, tamper, cleaning disc + tablets, and a water filter. Everything you need to make espresso on day one is in the box.

Who the Barista Express is for

The Express is the right machine for first-time espresso buyers who want one box that contains everything, who are willing to learn manual milk steaming, and who want a proven platform with a decade of community documentation behind it. If you want auto-milk, look at the Bambino Plus. If you want auto-tamping with a more refined workflow, look at the Barista Express Impress. If you want the original all-in-one Sage formula at the most accessible price, this is the one. Works perfectly with Field Coffee Espresso.

Fun Goose Dog Toy
I have a small dog with about 20 plush toys to play with. Added to her inventory now is the ILC Buy Interactive Goose Toy for Small Breeds. It took me a while to figure out where the toy "squeaks", and it makes the noise when the white banded neck around the goose is squeezed. My dog took an immediate liking to the toy and loves to carry it around the house, shaking her head back and forth with the goose in her mouth. It appears to be made primarily of burlap (see pictures) and is about 12-13" in length. Fortunately, my dog doesn't destroy toys, as some (probably larger) dogs do, so it appears to be pretty sturdy and well-made. After a week of playing with it regularly, the toy still looks brand new. I like the coloring and the size of the goose, and this is a nice addition to my dog's playtime routine. It is also priced appropriately for a dog toy of its size and quality. Recommended. Made in China.

Durable toy with a single squeaker
This goose seems to be made of fairly durable fabric. It's not flimsy. I had a hard time finding the squeaker in it at first, but then I realized the squeaker is located in the white neck! My medium border collie grabbed it first. Then my pitbull figured out where the squeaker was and ran around squeaking it for a while, which is her favorite thing to do. So this toy did get some interest from the pitbull especially. She isn't one to chew things up but really enjoys toys that make noise. Since the squeaker is in the skinny neck portion, it made it easy for her to grab hold of it and squeak it over and over again. I am giving this 4 stars only because in the whole long body of this toy, the neck has the only squeaker. I think it would have been better and more stimulating for my dogs if it had multiple squeakers or even some crinkles in the rest of the body...at least some crinkles in the flat feet of the duck. The sole attraction is that one squeaker in the neck. So it could be better, but I do like that it isn't super plush and full of stuffing that would be torn up in 5 minutes like most toys. My pitbull actually took this to another room away from her three sisters, so that means she really wanted to play with this by herself. That's a good sign.

Duck-time is play-time! Exactly what a dog toy should be!
Duck hunting for your living-room princess-pal best buddy goodest puppy in the world! Every dog deserves a chance to be a heroic duck hunting hero! This dog toy is a favorite of my pup. Duck-time is play time! This duck is made with several fabulous textures. There's a ropey texture around the neck, a burlap type texture for the body and head, and a felt-like texture for the bill and feet. My dog immediately tore the feet off! He always removes any hanging bits from all toys, so that's not a comment to the detriment of this product. He's working on the wings, now. My dog likes to chase this toy when I throw it or play tug-of-war with it, or is willing to sit and chomp on it by himself for a while. The rope is intact, still! This is exactly what a dog toy should be! Give your little buddy a hunting trophy!

Speaker broken
This toy is advertised as having a squeaker, but the one we had was defective and did not make any noise. Our dog still throughly enjoyed ripping this little duck to shreds through. The material was thicker than I was expecting but still only took our dog about 5 mins to completely destroy it (Golden retriever). I understand that this toy is marketed as for small dogs so I get that, but took away three starts because our came with the broken squeaker and for $10, you can find a lot better toys at TJ Max. This item is not a good value for our experience.

Durable duck toy for man’s best friend
Although it was suggested that this toy would be best for small breeds, I found that it’s durable enough for my 80 pound Irish setter! It has literally become his best friend. He takes it everywhere he goes! There’s a small squeaky noise that comes from the neck area that he has to work to find. I’m sure he will eventually destroy this as he has with all his other toys, but it’s really holding up much better than anticipated. It is well worth the $10 cost.
