MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • (9) fat quarters
  • 2-1/3 yards background*
  • 1-1/8 yards border fabric**
  • 3/4 yard binding fabric
  • 4-1/4 yards backing fabric
  • 76" x 76" batting

* To make the cover version with black Moda crossweave, you will need 3-3/4 yards total for the background and border. This includes and extra ¼ yard so you can prewash the crossweave--which I always recommend since crossweave shrinks more than regular cotton prints.
** Border fabric is listed separately from the background fabric to give the option of a contrasting border print.

Excellent, well built filter at a low price

An excellent build quality filter, especially for the money. Definitely top three along with Mobil-One and WIX filters. However, the regular WIX/NAPA Gold has much better filtration efficiency at smaller microns. The WiX XP has much better dirt capacity than either, but actually has lower filtration efficiency than regular WIX. Both are better in their own ways than the Purolator Boss at a few dollars more, but this is still MILES better than Fram or Bosch or STP (or god forbid, SuperTech), etc. and usually the best at a low price on Amazon. If you run long change intervals like 7,500-10,000mi, spring the couple extra dollars for the WIX XP for the dirt capacity. If you want the absolute best filtration efficiency (me) for a 3,000-5,000mi interval, get the regular WIX/NAPA Gold. I don't recommend change intervals longer than 10,000mi, though I still use Mobil One Extended (best value, 20,000mi rated) or Amsoil Signature Series (25,000mi rated but expensive) for the extra protection.
