This unique artifact, made from a genuine F-4 Phantom II front landing gear door, shines a light on aviation history. The two-seat F-4 Phantom II twinjet was one of the most versatile fighters ever to serve the military. Built by McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis, it boasted top speeds more than twice the speed of sound and became the U.S. Navy's fastest, highest flying, and longest range fighter. Both the Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds flight demonstration teams flew the F-4 during the 1970s. This salvaged door has been cleaned; upgraded with new wiring, lights, and a switch; and encased in a 1/8" hot-rolled-steel shadow box. A cleat on the back allows it to be mounted on a wall. Camouflage green, natural lacquer, and black finishes. Measures 32.25"H x21.25"W x 6.5"D. Weighs approximately 45 lb. Made in U.S.A.
