SKU: DIV2001/PVDAUT/RL

MWC first manufactured the predecessor to this 300m/1000ft water-resistant diver's watch between the early 1990s and 2004. While some fine details, such as the dial design, changed over that period, the 1999-2001 pattern dial remains the clear winner due to its easily readable, uncluttered layout and exceptional nighttime performance. This watch retains that original dial pattern with retro luminous paint that looks identical to our watches from 30 years ago. Although the original watches used tritium, these new versions use Luminova, with the encircled "T" retained for historical reasons.

Rediscovery and Remake

The predecessor to this watch was originally discontinued in 2007. However, an interesting turn of events occurred when an MWC distributor in Australia discovered 500 brand-new quartz versions of this range in their storeroom. Made between 1999 and 2001, these watches were part of a procurement contract. When the distributor's son took over the business and conducted a detailed stock check, these watches came to light. We were offered the opportunity to buy them back, and they proved so popular that we decided to remake the watches in the same design while carrying out significant upgrades.

Upgrades and Improvements

Advances in watch manufacturing over the years allowed us to improve the overall specification:

  • Movement: Automatic Miyota 8315 movement with a 60-hour power reserve, which is exceptional today but unheard of over 20 years ago. The movement can also be hand-wound and has hacking for synchronization.
  • Crystal: Upgraded from hardened mineral glass to sapphire, which is highly scratch and shatter-resistant.
  • Bezel: Upgraded to a 120-click bezel versus the earlier 60 or 90 clicks.

PVD Treated Case

This watch features a PVD-treated case, often specified in military contracts for special forces units, anti-terrorist units, and various covert operations. The PVD process creates a black finish on the steel that is vastly superior to painted finishes, which can easily fade or rub off. The PVD process alters the color of the steel at a molecular level, ensuring it does not deteriorate even during heavy usage. However, the finish can be compromised if the case is severely damaged.

Historical Case Design

These watches are closely based on a case design originally made by the famous Swiss case-making firm MRP S.A. Founded in 1953 and bought by Georges Hauert in 1979, MRP is now independently owned by Patrick Hauert. The case design has remained largely unchanged since the late 1970s. More information can be found on their website: MRP S.A..

Notable Users and Legacy

In addition to MWC watches, this case pattern has been used by companies such as Precista, Nilax, Elvia, and Heuer (predecessors to Tag Heuer who made the Heuer 844-1 in 1979). Chronosport manufactured the Sea Quartz 30, worn by Tom Selleck in Magnum PI. Elvia continues to produce watches using this case, and MWC is a factory-authorized distributor for this brand. CWC and various other companies also continue to use this case design. This case pattern is historically significant and has stood the test of time, being in continuous production for over 40 years.

The basic design of the specific MWC watch shown here goes back to the British Ministry of Defence (MOD) specification shown in the final two images.

Benefits of Sapphire Crystal

Synthetic sapphire is the best material for watch crystals due to its strength and shatter and scratch resistance. These characteristics make it very appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and those who lead active outdoor lifestyles, accounting for over 70% of our customers. The original plexiglass crystals used in the 1960s were easily scratched and prone to cracking, limiting water resistance. Over 90% of cracked crystal incidents involve watches with mineral glass crystals or plexiglass. Even hardened mineral crystals do not come close to sapphire for durability under adverse conditions. Sapphire crystals are heat-treated to remove internal stresses, enhancing their strength, and are made into watch crystals with two layers of anti-reflective coating. Sapphire crystal's robustness and durability make it a preferred choice for high-end watches and is now used in the latest iPhone models. While more expensive, sapphire crystal is typically fitted to higher-end watches.

    Definitely a comfort read
    Format: Kindle
Just a comfy cozy nice long read. While this is definitely a SLOOOOOOOOWWWWW burn, this is how you do RH right; a nice long novel where you actually get to know the characters so you can feel more connected to them & the story, not to mention getting enough time to actually remember all their names haha. & they are all consent kings. Also I do so love me some double omega OV, siiiigh (heart eyes). I wish there had been juuust a bit more spice, like maybe just between Elias & others before MC was ready (made Elias feel a bit underdone or gimmicky without it), I did love this read. Low stress, comfy read. It could've used another round of editing for some minor errors & type issues but it wasn't bad enough to pull ne out of the story. Though I did giggle at 'knecks', thinking kuh-necks in my head. Overall I'd say 9/10

    beautiful story
    Format: Kindle
I absolutely love this book, however there is quite a bit repetition! The storyline makes up for it, a just skipped them. I like that this was a cozy read, it’s an omegaverse romance, but really barely read as OV, you get a little hierarchy and scent blockers, but if not for that you wouldn’t know. I love the romance aspect however, they take there time and move at her pace! A good read, with some errors, hopefully there is more to come!!

I loved the concept of the story but it went no where painfully slow! There was so much repetition that I skimmed and only paid attention whenever I saw quotation marks. I need...yes we know what you need....said 125 times grew frustrating and tiresome! And what does progressive mean in this boom? There are 3 alphas and 2 omegas...is that different or is it bc of the 3 alphas and Lucian was the really alpha one. The sex was very disappointing too....very G rated in my spice level. There is no epilogue and I think it was like 80 something chapters! I should have read the reviews but the sample got me good! What does soren do for a living? Are the men sexual w eachother bc they did not show that in this story if you are worried about that. It was jus so painstakingly slooowwwwww!!! I get why but dang! Just beware g rated and slow paced w alot of repetition!

    It's great but be warned...
    Format: Kindle
I enjoyed the idea of this story. I really did! The story was great, the characters were great, and I had a decent enough time reading. I did however, find myself forcing myself to finish this and skimming through a lot of the series. The pacing was slow which is fine, but it was repetitive. Every single conversation Lydia had with these men always had to have some deeper meaning. Even when I thought there would be a light hearted reprieve, it always ended with another lecture or bit of advice. It felt like I was watching her interact with her multitude of therapists than men she was being courted by. I understand this was a path of healing for her but it got very old very fast. It felt excessive in every way to me and this aspect never changed throughout the entire story. Imagine reading an overly inspirational self help book where they tried to make it interesting by throwing in romance? Which again, could work in many cases but it was so excessive to me. That being said, I still think it was a great story and I think everyone should give this a chance!

    Absolutely perfect
    Format: Kindle
All of the characters are so expertly developed. They all support Lydia with unwavering understanding while she slowly opens up. I liked that the main conflict wasn’t between the pack and it instead pulled them closer together. This is honestly such a perfect feel good cozy omegaverse. There were some typos sprinkled through out but not enough to be irritating.
