Maton TE Personal - Tommy Emmanuel Custom Shop Model

It takes a great guitar to meet the demands of such a great player. Designed in conjunction with guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel, the TE series guitars are an outstanding tribute to his musicianship and Maton's superior craftsmanship. Built by Master Luthier Andy Allen in their Custom Shop, the TE Personal provides the huge tone and performance you would expect from a guitar bearing his name. This Guitar has a custom built thinline body with the depth of Maton's CS Classic body. A depth of 3 1/2" gives this thinline the Custom Shop traditional size body.

Tommy looks for a guitar with superb tone, capable of the most delicate expression as well as the most ferocious attack. The neck must stay true regardless of the rigours of international travel and the guitar needs to perform at its peak, from Rome, to Nashville, to Sydney!

The Tommy Emmanuel models feature a Mother of Pearl block inlay on the 12th Fret, engraved with "C.G.P." The acronym stands for "Certified Guitar Player," a title bestowed on Tommy by Chet Atkins and held by only 3 other guitarists in the world - John Knowles, Jerry Reed and Steve Warriner. This is the same model guitar, with identical appointments, that is in Tommy's collection of Maton guitars.

The TE Personal Features master grade AAA Figured Queendsland Maple and "AAA" Sitka Spruce top soundboard. Originally used as a Mahogany "substitute", Queensland Maple has become the backbone of the Maton sound. It is used in nearly every Maton either as a neck, back & sides, or internal component. A rainforest hardwood from Northern Queensland, this timber is light, strong, and visually striking. Queensland Maple is extremely well balanced with an even response across all frequencies. If you are looking for the secret to Maton's great tone, this is a good place to start.

The AP5 Pro features Separate Microphone and Piezo input controls allow for blending of both microphone and piezo levels prior to sending the actively combined signals through to the tone circuits and master volume. Highly selective cardioid microphone system allows for much greater microphone level before feedback in live environments. This newly upgraded microphone is direct mounted to the preamp casing via an adjustable arm, which permits easy final tweaking of microphone position to suit the individual artists style.

I design flaw caused me to return it.
Color: Brown/Blue
Pros: - Perfect case size. - Sapphire crystal. - Solar powered quartz. - Large dial face - Minute and second hands reach to minute track for precise reading. - Great field watch design and proportions. - Effective lume on hands. Cons: - Lume on small triangular hour markers is useless, and fades quickly. - The hour numbers are not luminous. - The dull peach color chosen for the hour markers, numbers and hands in dim lighting is very dull and thus hard to read. - The dark blue color chosen for the dial is a dull hue that doesn’t really look blue, but just reduces the contrast between text and markers. - A black dial and bright white markers and numbers would make the watch much more legible/ readable, and would look much better aesthetically. It is a shame that these choices were made on an otherwise perfect design. - I was really excited that Timex finally seemed to get it when they came out with this series of models, but then they handicapped it with a dial that is only useable in bright light. What a shame. I am returning the watch.

Great Watch!
Color: Black/Silver-Tone
I bought this watch after the resin strap on my old Armitron watch broke. I was disappointed to find that armitron doesn't make my old watch anymore, so I had to find a replacement. I did extensive research and finally settled on this watch. I needed a rugged, waterproof, backlit, time-and-date + day of week watch. I also needed a watch with a durable strap, because the resin strap sport watches only last 2 or 3 years, which is how long I had my old one. I love the mid-size design of this watch. It fits well and looks really cool. I bought a used like-new one because it was cheaper and it arrived in perfect condition, just without the instructions or original packaging. It is easy to set, easy to read, and the backlighting is just the right brightness. Setting it accurately is tricky, but I've developed my own system to only be one second off, if that. The band is slightly itchy, but it should break in. Overall, I love my new watch and I'm happy that I found something that can take a beating and still work!

Quality watch at a reasonable price
Color: Black/Red
Velcro-closure on the tough fabric band is comfortable and very secure. This beautiful sports watch allows for 12 or 24-hour timekeeping, and is easy to set. Wearers can program 2 entirety different times using the "Time1" and "Time 2" settings, very useful for travel.

Good Watch; Bad Strap
Color: Blue/Black
The watch is like many other I've worn, Timex included, and has all the features I want in a standard watch. I like the colors which are very similar to my last Timex which I've had to abandon due to failure of the wrist band after many years of daily use and the dearth of stores which replace straps. The watch itself is reliable and works well, but I do not like the velcro strap. I have very small wrists and searched a lot before deciding on this watch with an adjustable strap unhindered by the placement of buckle and holes. However, the strap is still too big to fit me well and it is tedious to align both sides of the velcro. Also, the velcro will catch my sleeves or other parts of my clothing every now and then and is avoidable only through meticulous placment of the two sides of velcro. I myself can't replace a strap with a better one because I don't know how, but if you can and have large enough wrists, then this may be the watch for you. If the manufacture or anyone else knows where one can purchase a small wrist band where the sellers will remove the one that I now have with a new, better fitting one, I wish there were a way that you could tell me. I do wish the watch were flatter because my sleeves are hard to move back and forth over it and it's also in the way of typing on my computer as well as tucking sheets in between mattress and headboard. (I can't rate the light because I haven't yet looked for the switch, and its water resistance I can't comment upon because I have not and will not subject the watch to water.)

Good Sport Watch
Color: Blue/Black
This is a good sport watch. I wear these to work in all sorts of conditions...and they take a beating. I have to get the unisex watches/bands as I have thick wrists for a woman and women's watchbands generally don't fit me. I can't wear the metal watch bands because when I flex my wrist they break. I can't wear the leather bands because when I sweat the band just deteriorates and falls apart. These woven bands are just perfect. I also like that it is velcro. That way you can adjust it perfectly to your wrist. I have worn these watches for nearly 15 years. It has two time functions - so that you can have regular time and maybe the time in another country. It has a split lap stop watch so that you can time each lap as well as your full run. Time, date, alarm, and hour beep if you so desire. It also has a back light which is really handy to tell time in the dark. Only problem with that is at about the year mark, the battery is so low that the light will come on, but the numbers disappear. But, well, it is what it is. Some reviewers have complained that the band is rather small fitting around the wrist. I am a woman and I bought a womans Timex once. The band was EXTREMELY small and barely fit me at all. It would come off a lot of the time because there was barely any velcro to wrap around. This watch is probably more of a unisex watch. Not a woman's per se, but not a big man's watch either. It is about in the middle. I have a 7.5" wrist and that is about as large of a wrist that this watch will fit. The women's watch that I had previously had would only fit a 7" wrist.
