The Baitrunner is deeply rooted in the Australian fishing scene, having been first conceptualized here and quickly embraced as an essential fishing tool.
The OC release retains many features that have made the Baitrunner a household name in this country, while also incorporating advancements that will propel this iconic range of reels into the future.
Upgraded features include a machined handle, a replaceable spool clicker, Varispeed Oscillation for perfect line lay with braided or monofilament lines, and Propulsion Line Management to enhance casting distance.
Casting is further improved with Shimano’s ARC Spool, a patented design with an angled spool lip that allows line to exit the spool with less friction and in smaller coils, resulting in longer, more accurate casts. ARC spools reduce backlash and wind knots when using braid.
Shimano S ARB bearings are highly corrosion-resistant ARB ball bearings with an extra shield for enhanced protection against sand, salt, or dust. With three double-sided, shielded stainless steel bearings and an anti-reverse bearing inside the Baitrunner OC, long life and smooth operation are assured.
When setting the baitrunner feature, the baitrunner lever moves towards the body to prevent accidental engagement of the main drag. The main drag re-engages once the handle is cranked. This line tension freedom is essential for many fishing styles, and the baitrunner is favored by anglers live baiting for Mulloway, Kingfish, Flathead, Barramundi, and Snapper.
