Karungali Mala with Om Trishul Damaru Pendant – Silver Plated Ebony Wood Shiva Necklace

The Trishul, the Om, and the Damaru — three of the most sacred symbols in all of Shaiva tradition — united in a single pendant, suspended from a mala of Karungali, the sacred Indian Ebony that has been used in Shiva worship for centuries. This necklace is for the Shiva devotee who carries their faith visibly, quietly, and with complete conviction.

The Beads — Karungali, Shiva's Sacred Wood

Each bead is crafted from genuine Karungali heartwood (Diospyros melanoxylon — Indian Ebony) — dense, naturally near-black, and revered in Shaiva and Vedic traditions as one of the most protective sacred woods. Used for Shiva nama japa, Mritunjaya mantra, Shani dosha remedy, and Bhairava sadhana — Karungali is the wood that belongs to the world of Lord Shiva.

The beads are individually wire-linked in silver-plated metal — clean, lightweight, and suited for uninterrupted daily wear.

The Pendant — Om Trishul Damaru, The Complete Shiva Symbol

This pendant is unique in that it combines three Shaiva symbols into one unified form — each carrying its own profound meaning:

Trishul (Trident) The weapon and symbol of Lord Shiva — representing the three fundamental powers: Ichha Shakti (will), Jnana Shakti (knowledge), and Kriya Shakti (action). The Trishul also represents Shiva's mastery over the three states of consciousness — waking, dreaming, and deep sleep — and his dominion over the three gunas.

Om (ॐ) The primordial sound from which all creation emerges — the sound of Shiva's own consciousness. Inscribed at the heart of the pendant, the Om grounds the entire composition in the source of all being.

Damaru (Hourglass Drum) Shiva's drum — the instrument whose beat marked the rhythm of creation at the beginning of time. The Damaru represents the pulse of the universe, the origin of Sanskrit language and sound, and Shiva's role as Nataraja — the Lord of cosmic dance. Its hourglass shape represents the meeting point of creation and dissolution.

Terminal Karungali bead drop Below the Damaru hangs a single Karungali bead in a silver cap — an elegant detail that completes the pendant and ties it back to the mala, making the entire piece feel unified and intentional.

Spiritual Significance

Symbol Meaning
Trishul Shiva's power over creation, preservation & dissolution; protection from all directions
Om Primordial sound, source consciousness, Shiva's cosmic identity
Damaru Rhythm of creation, origin of sacred sound, Nataraja's cosmic dance
Karungali beads Shiva worship, Saturn remedy, psychic protection, grounding
Complete pendant A wearable Shiva kavacham — protection in form, sound, and symbol

Who Should Wear This

  • Devoted Shiva bhaktas seeking a powerful daily wear Shaiva necklace
  • Those who practice Om Namah Shivaya, Maha Mritunjaya mantra, or Shiva Panchakshara japa
  • Those undergoing Shani dosha, Sade Sati, or Ashtama Shani — the Karungali beads make this a natural remedy mala
  • Practitioners drawn to the symbolism of Nataraja, Adiyogi, or Bhairava
  • Devotees seeking a meaningful Shivaratri, Pradosham, or Shravan month gift
  • Anyone who wants to carry the essence of Shiva — not as decoration, but as devotion

Care Instructions

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water and sweat — silver plating is moisture-sensitive
  • Store in a dry pouch when not in use
  • Wipe pendant and beads gently with a soft dry cloth after wear
  • Do not use chemical cleaners or silver polish
  • The Karungali beads and the terminal bead drop will naturally deepen in colour with use — this is authentic and desirable

FAQs

Q1: What are the three symbols on the pendant? The pendant combines three of the most sacred Shaiva symbols — the Trishul (Shiva's trident, representing his three divine powers), Om (the primordial sound of Shiva's consciousness inscribed at the centre), and the Damaru (Shiva's drum, the instrument of creation and cosmic rhythm). Below the Damaru hangs a single Karungali bead drop, tying the pendant back to the mala.

Q2: Is this suitable for Shiva mantra japa? Yes. Karungali is one of the most appropriate woods for Shiva japa — including Om Namah Shivaya, Maha Mritunjaya mantra, and Shiva Panchakshara. The mala bead format supports standard japa counting.

Q3: Is the silver genuine 925 sterling silver? No — the wire linking and pendant are silver plated, not solid 925 sterling silver. This is clearly reflected in the pricing. For a solid 925 sterling silver Karungali mala, we carry that as a separate product.

Q4: What is the significance of the Karungali bead hanging below the Damaru? The terminal Karungali bead drop is both aesthetic and symbolic — it visually grounds the pendant and unifies it with the mala. In Shaiva tradition, Karungali is sacred to Shiva, making this bead a fitting conclusion to a pendant that is entirely devoted to Shiva's symbols.

Q5: Is this suitable as a Shivaratri or Shravan gift? Absolutely — this is one of the most appropriate Shiva devotional gifts available. The combination of Karungali mala and Om Trishul Damaru pendant makes it a complete Shaiva gift for Maha Shivaratri, Shravan Somvar, Pradosham observances, or any Shiva-centred occasion.

Q6: Can women wear this necklace? Yes — this necklace is suitable for both men and women. The pendant size and mala style make it versatile for daily devotional wear regardless of gender.

NICE for soups!
Style: 34 Ounces, Size: 34 Count
We try to keep these in the house. They are REALLY nicely sized and work great for soups. They are AWESOME for soups and the only disposable plates I feel comfy using for large stews and such. Makes cleaning easy because I don't HAVE TO CLEAN! They are a bit more expensive than otherd disposable plates, but they are worth it. Pretty heavy duty plates that are thick and great for heavier foods. <3

Favorite compostable plates ever!
Style: 34 Ounces, Size: 34 Count, Style: 34 Ounces, Size: 34 Count
I’ve been using the Dixie Ultra Extra Large Compostable Paper Bowls, and I can honestly say I absolutely love them! They’re sturdy, deep, and hold generous portions, perfect for everything from hearty soups and pasta to big salads or even snacks for movie night. Unlike other paper bowls, they don’t get soggy or collapse, even with hot or liquid-heavy foods. Another huge plus for me is that they’re compostable, so I can enjoy the convenience of disposables without the guilt. They’re strong, reliable, and environmentally friendly, which is a rare combo! If you’re looking for durable, eco-conscious paper bowls that can handle anything you throw in them, these are a must-have. Highly recommend!

No more washing pozole/menudo bowls for me
Style: 34 Ounces, Size: 34 Count
Very sturdy for a paper plate. Used these for pozole at a party and saved me the hassle of washing plates. Good size, bigger than you think. When serving it does get hot so use something underneath so you don’t get burned.

Extra large paper bowls are sturdy, affordable, and make clean up a breeze.
Style: 34 Ounces, Size: 34 Count
I like the convenience of paper plates and these large 34 oz. bowls are perfect for microwave cooking. They are deep enough to handle soup, pasta, stuffing and vegetable sides with no problems and without any leaking, and are a good value for the price. They look stylish and make clean up less of a chore. You can't go wrong with Dixie paper products. They're sturdy, fun, and last through the meal.
