Stainless Steel Water Filter Tap: No Lead, No Worries

If you’re like most Australian families, you want a water filter tap that really protects your health, not one that quietly adds new concerns. Here’s the truth most people gloss over: Most water filter taps are made from brass, and over time, that can let small amounts of lead creep into your water. That’s the last thing you want. The Aquala stainless steel water filter tap is made with 100% food-grade stainless—so every glass is clean, fresh, and completely lead-free. Simple peace of mind, every single day.

Everyday Peace of Mind, Just Pure Water

Pour your morning coffee, fill the kids’ drink bottles, or top up the kettle, knowing there’s zero lead, no metallic aftertaste, and nothing to second-guess. Brass taps can change the flavour without you even realising it. Aquala’s all-stainless construction means water just tastes like water. Plus, you can match your kitchen style with five modern finishes: Brushed Stainless, Matte Black, Gunmetal, Brass (Light Gold), or Copper (Rose-Gold).

How It Works, Pure Water, No Complications

This tap connects to any under-sink filter or reverse osmosis system using standard 1/4" tubing, perfect for most Aussie kitchens, with adaptors available if you need. Stainless steel means it won’t corrode, rust, or leave strange flavours in your glass. The tall spout makes it easy to fill bottles or kettles, and the inside is as smooth as the outside, so every drop stays pure. The reliable ceramic cartridge means no leaks, no plastic parts, no stress.

What Makes Aquala Different?

  • 100% stainless steel, no brass, zero lead
  • Five finishes to suit your kitchen: Brushed Stainless, Matte Black, Gunmetal, Brass (Light Gold), Copper (Rose-Gold)
  • Easy-clean brushed finish resists fingerprints and stains
  • Premium ceramic cartridge for years of leak-free use
  • 360° swivel spout for easy filling and cleaning
  • Universal fit, works with most under-sink water filter systems

Easy Install—Just a 12–12.5mm Hole

Replacing an old tap? You’re probably good to go. New install? You’ll just need to drill a tidy 12–12.5mm hole in your sink or benchtop (most handy people or confident DIYers can do this in minutes). The extra-long thread fits even thick benches and awkward setups, and all fittings are included. If you’re unsure, a local plumber can help, but for most, it’s a breeze.

Maintenance & Aquala Support

  • Just wipe clean, no special products needed
  • Lead-free, will never rust or tarnish
  • Filter cartridge swaps are simple—no plumber needed
  • 1-year warranty, free shipping Australia-wide
  • Friendly local support if you ever need help

FAQ

  • Why not brass? Even “safe” brass can let in a little lead over time. Stainless steel stays clean—always.
  • Will it fit? If you’ve got a 12–12.5mm hole, you’re sorted. If not, it’s an easy drill job for most DIYers.
  • Best colour? That’s up to you! Classic stainless for a seamless look, or go bold with copper or black.

Almost the perfect watch
Color: Black/Blue
I have owned three earlier models of these things going back to the days when I actually ran road races. They are brilliant pieces of work. My only complaint of them was that the start/stop/split button(s)--there were two on the older models--were too small. Well, apparently Timex listens and the two small buttons are now combined into one larger one. Probably this was done years ago but I'm only now getting back into road work, so now I get to discover it. The perfect watch? Almost. I especially like this model as my eyes are not what they used to be and the oversized face makes it easier to read. The downside to this is that it also makes the crystal easier to scratch. That's always been an issue, but I can live with it. No, the real problem with this product is, was, and apparently ever shall be, the band. Now, it could be worse, it could be a resin band (like the old ones) that will crack and break within a couple of years, but no, this is a nylon and velcro wrap style which should be just dandy, but for three glitches: 1. it's too short 2. it's too narrow (gee whiz, Timex designers, it's an oversized watch, why not a matching oversized band?) and 3. it's still resin where it attaches to the actual watch. Now, I imagine it's probably less prone to breakage in how it's implemented, but if you should choose to replace it, I can see no obvious way of removing it short of cutting it off. Really? But these are minor complaints. I doubt it would be comfortable on anyone whose wrists are much bigger than my own, but replacement bands are everywhere, and this watch will keep time with style and it's brilliant at splits. Heck, it even functions admirably as a backup for my expensive stopwatches at our regular short track stock car events. For my money (and did I mention the price is wonderful?) the Ironman is still the best at what it does, and for what it can do.

Good hard use watch.
Color: Black/Silver-Tone
Review Calibration: 3 stars means it works as advertised, nothing special during use, and no amazing features. Higher stars mean better-than-expected performance and features. This is 5 stars because it is my favorite work/hard-use watch. I have been wearing one for years, and like all Timex watches, it can take a beating. I have to replace it when the band's ears get so damaged that they won't hold the band on. This has more to do with the plastic's lifespan than with a design issue. I am hard on watches. This watch normally lasts ne 7-10 years between replacements.

Typical Ironman quality
Color: Black/Silver-Tone
This is my fourth Timex Ironman watch. I own many watches, and prefer the Ironman for casual wear and sporting activities as well as swimming and snorkeling. I decided to replace an earlier model with this one rather than pay to change the battery. The Ironman has changed very little over the years since its introduction in the '80s, with the exception of cosmetic improvememnts and a larger display. I selected the "oversize" model as I was looking for a little more heft to this model. This watch fits the bill, not as chunky as my G-Shock. A pleasant surprise was the weight of the watch. This model is lightweight, another advantage over the G. It's larger than the typical Ironman model, but about the same weight. The band lacks the stiffness of some other Timex and Casio models, and is quite comfortable. Typical Ironman functions are unchanged, and the ability to "hide" various functions makes operation of the watch more efficient. There are three time zones, useful when traveling, as well as the usual chronograph/timer and alarm functions. I haven't worn the watch in the pool or ocean yet, but if experience is any guide, I expect no problems. I've never had an Ironman leak, whether during water sports or snorkeling. These are great watches for the money. I prefer 200 meter water resistance for this type of watch, but Timex has yet to build an Ironman 200m that doesn't overwhelm my wrist in weight and size. I'm not a big guy, and they are simply too large for my wrist. Looking forward to years of service with this watch. Definitely a good timepiece for the price.
